Java Web Developer (Full-Stack Exp. Req.) Description

Our client is looking for a remote Java Web Developer to join their team in the United States. Reporting to the Application Development Manager, you’ll design, develop, test, and implement business-critical web applications. You’ll build new functionality, enhance existing applications, and help maintain reliable systems that support the business. This is a full-stack role with work across both front-end and back-end development. While our client is a large, established retailer, the IT team operates in a lean, entrepreneurial environment where individual contributions make a real impact. You’ll work closely with technical teammates and business partners to understand needs, work through challenges, and deliver solutions that support the business. The ideal candidate will enjoy a mix of autonomy, flexibility, and a steady project workflow that keeps the work engaging. You’ll have the opportunity to solve technical problems that directly impact the business while working with a flexible, collaborative team that values genuine connection, even in a remote environment.

Important Note: While the team is embracing AI-assisted development tools, these are intended to be a resource, not a substitute for strong Java coding skills. Candidates will complete a coding assessment as part of the interview process.

Java Web Developer (Full-Stack Exp. Req.) Responsibilities

•    Develop and enhance Java web applications supporting business operations
•    Build and maintain full stack application features
•    Integrate applications with internal systems and external services
•    Develop and maintain REST APIs
•    Participate in the full software development lifecycle
•    Write SQL queries to support application functionality
•    Work with XML, JSON, and other application data formats
•    Use AI tools to support coding, testing, and debugging
•    Test application functionality and resolve technical issues
•    Collaborate with technical teams and business partners to deliver solutions

Java Web Developer Java Web Developer (Full-Stack Exp. Req.) Qualifications

•    Software development background in retail or e-commerce environments required
•    5+ years of full-stack Java web application development required
•    Advanced SQL skills (e.g., multi-table joins, stored procedures, MERGE/UPSERT, CTEs) required
•    REST API development and working knowledge of JSON data formats required
•    Occasional travel to U.S. headquarters required, typically 1-3 times per year, with potential onsite training during the first 1-2 weeks of onboarding
