Job description

Product & Engineering Lead

MCR Media Group · Remote (Europe) · Full-time

About MCR

MCR is an international, performance-driven product company behind online IQ tests, personality and emotional intelligence assessments, and brain-training platforms. Our products serve customers worldwide and attract millions of monthly visits through performance marketing across all major acquisition channels. Headquartered in Cyprus, MCR runs a portfolio of profitable subscription businesses built on fast experimentation and continuous growth.

About the role

This is not a classic product management role. We’re looking for a technically strong builder who can own both what we build and how we build it: shaping and launching new subscription products while taking CTO-like ownership of development processes, technical decisions and production quality.

MCR runs a growing portfolio of subscription products built on a shared funnels platform, with a dedicated subscription backend for each product line. Several new product lines are planned over the coming period. You’ll own the technology behind this “product factory”, making sure every new launch is faster, more reliable and more reusable than the last. Most development and DevOps are delivered by an external partner, so you’ll be the company’s in-house technical owner, setting direction, standards and priorities for the vendor.

The role is hands-on and reports directly to the CEO and COO. Most of your focus (around 60–70%) will be on launching new products, with the rest on improving the existing portfolio. It’s an ideal fit for a CTO, Head of Engineering or Engineering Manager who wants closer ownership of product and business results, or a Technical PM with a strong engineering background.

What you’ll do

  • Own new subscription products and funnels end to end: Build → Launch → Test → Scale → Localise.
  • Audit the current setup in depth (people, processes, technologies, services and the development vendor), then propose improvements backed by evidence and implement what’s approved.
  • Own all development processes, from planning and delivery to code and release quality, for both current work and fast new launches.
  • Manage the external development and DevOps partner: set priorities, review technical proposals and estimates, and hold delivery to clear quality and timeline standards.
  • Design and evolve a scalable, reusable platform architecture so new product lines and localised funnels can launch quickly on a shared foundation.
  • Make and challenge technical decisions on architecture, integrations, infrastructure and tooling, choosing pragmatic solutions that let us launch fast and scale reliably.
  • Own the reliability of the stack: hosting and infrastructure, databases, monitoring, alerting and incident response.
  • Own recurring billing and payment provider (PSP) integrations, including payment success, routing and subscription flows.
  • Own the technical foundation of our funnels: analytics and event tracking, ad pixels, A/B testing infrastructure, and the data flows growth relies on.
  • Build prototypes and MVPs quickly, using AI-assisted development and prototyping tools to validate ideas before full investment.
  • Partner closely with the Head of Growth and the Analyst on acquisition, tracking, cohort data and funnel performance across Meta, Google, TikTok and other channels.
  • Work with the security function on access control and infrastructure protection.
  • Analyse conversion, retention, churn and LTV, and recommend whether to scale, optimise or shut down a product.
  • Build repeatable processes, playbooks and technical frameworks that make each new launch faster than the last.

What we’re looking for

  • 4+ years in technical leadership or technical product roles: CTO, Head of Engineering, Engineering, Development Manager or Technical PM with a strong engineering or QA background.
  • A hands-on understanding of how web products work under the hood: frontend and backend, APIs, integrations, databases, deployment and infrastructure. You can review a technical proposal and spot what’s wrong with it.
  • Experience managing or closely overseeing external development teams or vendors.
  • Experience launching products from zero, ideally in B2C, subscription, mobile, gaming, e-commerce or other performance-driven environments.
  • Experience with recurring payments and PSP integrations, and with production monitoring and incident handling.
  • Experience designing platforms or shared architectures that support several products, markets or languages.
  • A good understanding of subscription economics, conversion and retention, or a strong drive to learn them quickly.
  • Comfort with analytics and payment tools such as Stripe, GA4, Mixpanel, Amplitude, A/B testing platforms and SQL.
  • Strong, daily AI proficiency in both development and analysis (e.g. Claude Code, AI prototyping tools, LLM-based workflows).
  • The ability to manage several projects at once and to work directly with senior leadership.
  • Professional English, written and spoken.

Nice to have

  • Experience working with paid acquisition teams and tracking setups (pixels, server-side events, attribution).
  • Experience with localisation and launching products in several markets.
  • Experience auditing and restructuring existing technical setups or vendor relationships.

Why join us

  • Real ownership: shape both the product and the technology behind it, with direct influence on business decisions.
  • Direct access to leadership: work day to day with the CEO and COO, without layers of management.
  • Building at scale: design the platform behind a whole portfolio of new subscription products, not a single app.
  • Speed: new products go from idea to market fast, and you’ll see the impact of your decisions in the numbers.
  • Global reach: products used by millions of people worldwide.
  • AI-first culture: a company that actively uses AI to build, analyse and operate more efficiently.
  • Flexibility: fully remote, full-time.
  • Compensation: a competitive package based on experience, plus a performance-based bonus system.
