Deadline to apply: 11/5/2026
Seeking an IT Analyst for a three-month independent contractor (1099) engagement, with the potential to extend up to five months based on business needs and performance.
The assignment focuses on maintaining dependable employee IT support, identity and access operations, and complete operational documentation while supporting day-to-day technology operations.
Location: Remote within the United States
Assignment Type: Independent Contractor (1099)
Initial Contract Duration: 3 months, with potential extension up to 5 months
Start Date: November
The IT Analyst will support a remote workforce and take day-to-day ownership of assigned onboarding, role changes, terminations, access requests, and access validation. The analyst will work within established approval requirements, maintain accurate ServiceNow ITSM records, and coordinate with service desk and engineering teams to complete work from request through verified resolution.
Success requires a hands-on analyst who can learn quickly, work independently, identify unclear requests before granting access, and communicate effectively with employees and managers.
Service continuity and control quality are the priorities; process improvements should support those priorities and follow established change control requirements.
Support employees with Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, Box, approved SaaS applications, authentication, and routine endpoint issues. Troubleshoot directly within assigned access and coordinate specialist support when needed.
Manage assigned onboarding, role changes, and terminations across Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and other approved applications. Validate approvals, group memberships, application entitlements, and removal of access no longer required.
Coordinate account provisioning, equipment readiness, hardware delivery and return, and remaining onboarding or offboarding tasks with service desk teams and internal stakeholders. Verify completion across each responsible team.
Validate inconsistent manager, department, title, or access information before proceeding. Apply least privilege and approved access patterns; seek appropriate management approval for exceptions or unresolved access decisions.
Own assigned ServiceNow ITSM tickets through closure, documenting approvals, actions, validation, unresolved dependencies, and clear updates to the requester. Escalate blocked or high-risk work promptly.
Support access reviews, stale account cleanup, and access-related audit evidence requests for SOC 2 Type II, HITRUST i1, and other assigned compliance activities. Retain complete, retrievable records of work performed.
Follow established requirements for handling confidential and sensitive information, including PHI and PII where applicable. Report suspected security incidents or inappropriate access promptly to designated contacts.
At the beginning of the engagement, review recurring tasks, open tickets, application ownership, access procedures, escalation contacts, and known exceptions with relevant team members. Validate required system access and document any remaining knowledge gaps.
Throughout the engagement, maintain runbooks and a visible list of open work, risks, and dependencies. Provide regular status updates to the designated IT leadership contact at an agreed cadence.
Complete routine work independently within documented authority. Escalate security concerns, unclear approvals, and decisions outside the assigned scope with a concise explanation and recommended next step.
At contract completion, provide an organized transition handoff covering completed work, outstanding requests, access exceptions, procedure changes, and follow-up actions.
New hires have approved access and coordinated equipment readiness for day one; role changes and terminations meet agreed service levels with verified completion.
Employee requests receive timely communication and resolution or a documented escalation, with no avoidable gaps between internal IT and external service provider teams.
Tickets and access evidence are accurate and retrievable, and recurring tasks continue without requiring constant management oversight.
Runbooks and the final handoff support continuity of IT operations.
Small process improvements are documented and implemented only with appropriate approval.
Hands-on IT support and identity administration experience, including practical administration of Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 in a SaaS environment.
Experience completing onboarding, role changes, terminations, group and application access changes, and access validation from initial request through closure.
Strong troubleshooting skills and a service-oriented approach to supporting a fully remote employee community.
Sound judgment when requests are ambiguous, approvals are missing, or requested access exceeds the business need; ability to resolve routine issues without unnecessary escalation.
Clear written communication and disciplined ticket documentation suitable for operational review and audit evidence.
Ability to prioritize competing requests, learn existing procedures quickly, and take ownership within a small team with limited management bandwidth.
Ability to work independently in a contract-based engagement and deliver against defined operational priorities and timelines.
Experience in lean IT teams, alongside a managed service provider (MSP), or in healthcare or another regulated environment; familiarity with HIPAA and handling sensitive information is helpful.
Experience with Salesforce, Box, Intune or another MDM platform, CrowdStrike Falcon, Zscaler ZIA, KnowBe4, or access review and audit evidence tools.
Experience supporting AI platforms such as Claude Enterprise and OpenAI, including user access, approved assistants, GPTs, or similar tools.
Experience documenting runbooks or improving identity workflows. Automation experience is helpful but is secondary to reliable IT operational support.
Core tools include ServiceNow ITSM, Okta, Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft 365, Box, Salesforce, endpoint management and security tools, and external service provider escalation channels.
Access processes include manual steps and shared responsibilities across internal IT and external service providers. The analyst must verify handoffs, document exceptions, and work within assigned administrative permissions.
