Job description

Job Title: Data Product Manager

Job Summary:

The Data Product Manager owns the delivery and success of one or more of NVA’s data products, working hand-in-hand with business partners to co-own the product roadmap and ensure the product serves clinical, operational, growth, or financial needs. Reporting to the Director of Data Products, the Data Product Manager sets priorities for their product together with their POD (product-oriented delivery team), collaborates with business product owners, Data Engineering, BI/Analytics, AI, and Data Governance to drive delivery, and actively champions adoption of the product with business partners. This is an individual-contributor role focused on turning business needs into trusted, high-quality, widely used data products that are aligned to NVA’s broader data strategy and deliver measurable business value.

Reports To: Director, Data Products

What You’ll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities):

· Co-own the roadmap for your assigned data product(s) together with business partners, translating their needs and priorities into a clear, sequenced product backlog.

· Set and continuously reprioritize the backlog for your product with your POD (product-oriented delivery team), balancing business value, effort, and dependencies.

· Partner with business product owners and domain stakeholders to define product requirements, success criteria, and acceptance criteria for each release.

· Manage stakeholder expectations on scope, timing, and trade-offs for your product, communicating status, risks, and decisions clearly and proactively.

· Collaborate with Data Engineering to ensure your product is built on reliable, scalable data pipelines and platform architecture, and to sequence delivery within POD capacity.

· Work with BI/Analytics and AI teams to incorporate reporting, self-serve analytics, and AI/ML capabilities into your product where they add value.

· Partner with Data Governance to ensure your product meets standards for data quality, definitions, lineage, and compliance, and aligns to NVA’s broader data strategy.

· Define and track the metrics that measure your product’s success—adoption, data quality, business impact, and time-to-value—and use them to guide priorities.

· Drive the end-to-end delivery of your data product—from discovery and definition through build, testing, launch, and iteration—removing blockers and keeping stakeholders informed.

· Promote and champion adoption of your product with business partners through demos, enablement, documentation, and ongoing support, actively driving usage.

· Gather and synthesize user feedback, monitor product performance, and continuously improve the product to better serve business needs.

· Stay current on data product management practices, tooling, and emerging technology (including AI), and apply them to improve how your product is built and adopted.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Qualifications):

· 5–8 years of experience in data product management, product ownership, analytics, or a related field, including 2+ years managing or owning data or analytics products.

· Track record of delivering data or analytics products end to end—from requirements through launch and adoption—with demonstrated business impact.

· Working familiarity with modern data platforms and analytics tools (e.g., data lake/lakehouse architectures, Azure/Fabric, Snowflake, Power BI) and how data engineering, BI, AI, and governance come together to deliver data products.

· Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to partner with business owners, align cross-functional teams, and manage expectations on scope and timing.

· Strong analytical and product-thinking skills; ability to translate ambiguous business needs into clear data product requirements and actionable roadmaps for both technical and non-technical audiences.

· Preferred: Product management certification (e.g., Pragmatic Institute, SAFe Product Owner / Product Manager)

· Preferred: Relevant data platform or analytics certification (e.g., Azure, Snowflake, Power BI)

Preferred Experience

  • 8+ years in data product management, analytics, or a related field, with experience delivering data products in a regulated or multi-site industry.
  • Experience in veterinary, healthcare, or multi-site services industries, with understanding of clinical and operational data domains (e.g., patient records, PIMS systems, practice management data).
  • Experience delivering data products that incorporate BI/self-serve analytics and AI/ML capabilities.
  • Experience working in agile or product-oriented delivery teams (PODs), collaborating closely with data engineering and analytics partners.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Preferred Education: Master’s degree (MBA, MS in Data Management, Information Systems, or related field).

Travel: Up to once per quarter for stakeholder meetings.
