Job description

OVERVIEW

OnTrac is seeking a Senior Product Owner to join a greenfield product team building a new application on Google Cloud for a US public-sector client. It is a small, fast-moving team that works like a startup. You will own the backlog day to day, work side by side with UX designers and engineers, and take features from idea to launch.

This seat is for a builder. We are looking for someone who has taken a product from idea to launch as its owner, whether as a founder, on a founding team, or as an early product manager at a startup, and who can show us that product. If most of your experience is adding features to large, established products, this role is probably not the right fit.

ENGAGEMENT

• Location: United States, fully remote

• Expected start date: as soon as possible

• Work authorization: US citizens and green card holders, located in the United States for the full engagement

PRIMARY DUTIES

These duties are representative rather than exhaustive.

• Backlog Ownership: Own the product backlog end to end. Write clear user stories and acceptance criteria, and keep the order of the backlog and the reasons behind it transparent.

• Product Discovery: Talk to real users and stakeholders, test ideas early, and validate problems and solutions before committing engineering time.

• Prioritization: Make hard trade-off calls on value, risk, and effort, and explain them clearly to stakeholders.

• Build and Ship: Work with engineers and designers every day, accept work against clear criteria, and ship in small, frequent releases.

• Vision and Roadmap: Shape the product vision and roadmap with the client's product leadership, and keep the team focused on outcomes, not output.

• Outcome Metrics: Define success measures such as adoption, task success, and satisfaction, and use the data to decide what to build next.

• Agile Delivery: Take part in the team's Scrum events, and in PI Planning where the program uses SAFe.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• You have shipped at least one product that you owned from idea to launch, and you can show it: a live site, an app store listing, or a launch announcement.

• Startup experience as a founder, a founding team member, or an early product manager or product owner.

• At least 5 years of product management or product ownership on software products.

• Hands-on experience owning a backlog in Jira or a similar tool.

• Clear written and verbal communication, and comfort working directly with users, engineers, and executives.

USEFUL QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience building products on Google Cloud or another public cloud.

• Experience with public-sector or other regulated products.

• SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, CSPO, or a similar certification.

• A technical background in engineering, data, or design.

• Experience with UX research, design systems, and accessibility standards.

HOW TO APPLY

Please include a link to a product you shipped and a sentence on what your part in it was.
