Job description

Who Are Massive Rocket? Massive Rocket is a rapidly scaling Braze and Snowflake agency on a mission to transform how digital marketing, product, and engineering teams connect. In just five years, we’ve grown at speed and are now gearing up for our next big milestone: hitting $100M in revenue. We build human experiences at scale, powered by cutting‑edge web, mobile, cloud, data, and AI technologies. If you’re excited by innovation, love solving complex challenges, and want to help shape the future of digital experiences, you’ll feel right at home here.   Every role at Massive Rocket is entrepreneurial. The people who thrive here don’t just focus on their own remit — they understand the goals of the teams around them and actively contribute to the success of their colleagues, customers, and partners. We’re building a culture of ownership, collaboration, and growth, and we’re looking for people who want to make a real impact.   Who Are We Looking to Add to Our Team?

We’re looking for an experienced Technical Lead to lead the engineering delivery of MarTech platforms, data pipelines, and customer engagement integrations. You’ll work closely with Product Owners, Agile Delivery Managers, Data Architects, and cross-functional teams to turn business requirements into reliable, scalable technical solutions.

You’ll provide hands-on technical leadership within an established architecture, guide engineering standards, oversee implementation quality, and mentor engineers. The role combines strong expertise in mParticle, Braze, and Databricks with a focus on platform reliability, data governance, and continuous improvement.

What Will You Do?
  • Translate approved technical designs into implementation plans, sprint-ready tasks, and clear technical acceptance criteria.
  • Lead the development and delivery of MarTech data pipelines, integrations, and customer engagement solutions across mParticle, Braze, and Databricks.
  • Build and optimise batch and streaming data pipelines, APIs, webhooks, event schemas, and data models.
  • Ensure solutions meet requirements for scalability, resilience, security, observability, and cost efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain engineering standards across code quality, peer reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, release management, and rollback processes.
  • Guide the implementation of mParticle and Braze capabilities, including SDK instrumentation, identity resolution, event tracking, audiences, Liquid personalisation, and Connected Content.
  • Work with Product Owners and Agile Delivery Managers on feasibility, estimates, technical priorities, dependencies, and delivery risks.
  • Set up monitoring, alerting, and data-quality checks to track pipeline performance, integrations, and customer engagement data flows.
  • Lead incident response and root cause analysis, ensuring issues are resolved and preventive measures are implemented.
  • Ensure integrations follow data privacy, consent, security, and governance requirements, including GDPR and relevant data protection policies.
  • Coach and mentor engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and onboarding.
  • Identify opportunities to use GenAI and automation to improve engineering productivity while following security and governance standards.
What Makes You a Great Fit
  • 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or MarTech, including technical leadership and mentoring engineers.
  • Hands-on experience delivering production solutions using mParticle, Braze, and Databricks.
  • Strong understanding of MarTech ecosystems, customer engagement platforms, event tracking, identity resolution, and customer data models.
  • Experience building and optimising batch and streaming data pipelines using SQL, Python, PySpark, and Delta Lake.
  • Familiarity with dbt for data transformations and orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.
  • Experience designing and delivering secure, resilient API, webhook, and event-driven integrations.
  • Strong understanding of engineering practices, including version control, CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, and release management.
  • Experience with monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and improving reliability across distributed data systems.
  • Knowledge of data privacy, consent management, GDPR, and data governance requirements.
  • Ability to translate business and marketing requirements into technical solutions and communicate trade-offs clearly.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to influence Product, Marketing, CRM, Data, InfoSec, and external vendors.
  • A pragmatic approach to technical leadership, balancing delivery speed with engineering quality and architectural standards.

Desirable

  • Experience with AWS services, Splunk, and CloudWatch for monitoring and operational support.
  • Familiarity with Braze Canvas, API-triggered messaging, Liquid personalisation, and Braze Currents.
  • Experience with mParticle Live Stream, connection rules, data filters, and event forwarding policies.
  • Knowledge of data reconciliation, consent synchronisation, data retention, and data subject request processes.
  • Experience working with Agile delivery teams and contributing to engineering guilds or technical communities.
  • Practical experience using GenAI tools for code generation, data modelling, documentation, and engineering workflows.
