Job description

Our client is one of the world's leading producers of oleochemicals, manufacturing intermediate chemical products derived primarily from palm oil and other vegetable oils.

With a truly global manufacturing and commercial footprint spanning Asia, Europe, and the Americas, the company supplies a broad range of downstream industries including personal care, cosmetics, home care, food ingredients, plastic processing, industrial lubricants, and construction chemicals.

As part of this expansion, the company is recruiting a Business Developer Manager based in São Paulo City, who will serve as the company's first permanent commercial representative in Brazil and lay the foundations of its future local organization.

Location: São Paulo City

Home-based in the initial years (with readiness to establish a local presence and grow operations In Brazil)

MISSIONS

Reporting directly to the management team in Malaysia, you will be the company's eyes and ears in the Brazilian market. Your mission goes well beyond traditional sales: you will combine strategic market intelligence with active business development, becoming the local face of the organization, and building its commercial presence from the ground up.

Market Intelligence & Strategic Analysis

  • Your will develop a deep, structured understanding of the Brazilian oleochemicals landscape.

  • You will monitor local pricing dynamics, regulatory developments, and competitive movements, feeding regular strategic reports back to headquarters.

  • You will maintain regular engagement with customers and prospects to understand their requirements and future needs.

  • You will convert market information into actionable business insights and concrete development plans to be shared with headquarters.

Business Development

  • You will actively expand the company's footprint by identifying and converting new customers across personal care, cosmetics, home care, food ingredients, plastic processing, lubricants, and construction chemicals.

  • You will develop a structured commercial pipeline, negotiate supply agreements, and contribute directly to the long-term commercial strategy for Brazil and the broader South American region.

  • You will conduct regular client visits, build long-term relationships with both technical and executive stakeholders, and manage existing major accounts and local Brazilian champions.

As the business grows, you are expected to evolve into the leader of the future local commercial team, following a model the company has already implemented successfully in other markets.

PROFILE

  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Chemical Sciences; a Master's degree is preferred.

  • You bring 8 to 12 years of experience in B2B technical sales or key account management, ideally within oleochemicals, specialty chemicals, personal care ingredients, or adjacent chemical raw materials.

  • Your background gives you genuine product understanding; you are comfortable conducting technical sales conversations and discussing customer applications with confidence.

  • You have built your career ideally within multinational organizations, which means you are accustomed to reporting to regional or global management, navigating matrix structures, and working across cultures and time zones.

  • Above all, you are entrepreneurial, highly autonomous, and strategically minded. You are the kind of professional who builds things from scratch, asks the right questions, and converts market intelligence into business results.

  • You are a native Portuguese speaker with advanced English, essential for daily communication with headquarters. Spanish is a strong differentiator.

WHY JOIN OUR CLIENT?

  • This position represents a rare opportunity to be the first commercial hire in a high-priority emerging market for a globally established oleochemical leader.

  • You will have direct exposure to international leadership teams from day one, a clear long-term trajectory as the operation scales toward a full subsidiary and regional team.

  • If you are technically credible, commercially driven, and ready to make a lasting impact on a strategic market, this position represents an exceptional career opportunity.
