Job description

Meet the Team

As a Consulting Engineer specializing in Enterprise Networking within Cisco Customer Experience (CX), you will lead the technical delivery and lifecycle optimization of next-generation digital campus and wide-area network infrastructures. Our team partners closely with global enterprise customers to architect, deploy, migrate, and troubleshoot high-impact solutions across Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN, Cisco Catalyst Center (formerly DNA Center), Software-Defined Access (SDA / Fabric), and advanced Routing & Switching (Catalyst 9000 & IOS-XE). We combine deep protocol mastery with modern NetDevOps automation (Python, Ansible, pyATS, REST APIs) and AI-driven telemetry to guarantee network resilience, zero-trust security, and seamless user experiences. Collaborating proactively across Customer Success, Sales, Support, and Product Engineering, you will serve as a premier technical focal point, drive customer self-sufficiency, and develop reusable intellectual capital that accelerates delivery excellence.

Your Impact

Deliver Advanced Enterprise Networks: Lead the end-to-end planning, design, migration, and optimization of complex enterprise network solutions, focusing on Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN, Cisco Catalyst Center, and SD-Access (SDA) campus fabrics across Catalyst 9000 and Cisco IOS-XE platforms.

Architect SDA & SD-WAN Fabrics: Drive the design and deployment of secure, automated campus fabrics (LISP, VXLAN, Cisco ISE / TrustSec SGT integration, Anycast Gateways) and software-defined WAN architectures (vManage / SD-WAN Manager, vSmart, vBond, C8000V/Catalyst 8000 edge routers) aligned to Cisco Validated Designs (CVDs).

NetDevOps & AI-Driven Assurance: Leverage network programmability, infrastructure-as-code (CI/CD pipelines), and automated testing (Python, Ansible, Terraform, pyATS, REST APIs) along with AI-driven analytics (Catalyst Center Assurance, ThousandEyes, Cisco IQ) to automate changes, detect anomalies, and streamline deployments.

Proactive Resolution & Simulation Testing: Serve as the primary technical authority for complex routing, switching, and fabric escalations; build high-fidelity customer simulations to reproduce complex issues, validate software release upgrades, and execute risk-free change windows.

Intellectual Capital & Automation Assets: Author and contribute to reusable digital intellectual capital, including SD-WAN policy templates, SDA migration playbooks, Catalyst Center SWIM automation workflows, and best-practice deployment guides.

Cross-Functional Alignment & Technical Mentorship: Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success to translate customer business objectives into technical architectures, drive subscription adoption and renewals, and actively mentor emerging consulting engineers.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field with 7+ years of related experience; or Master’s degree with 4+ years of related experience; or equivalent practical experience.

Enterprise Networking & Fabric Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting enterprise networks, with deep expertise in Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN, Cisco Catalyst Center (DNA Center), and Cisco Software-Defined Access (SDA / Campus VXLAN-LISP).

Routing & Switching Protocol Mastery: 5+ years of demonstrated mastery in advanced enterprise Routing & Switching protocols and architectures (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VRF/MPLS, QoS, Multicast, EVPN, STP, and Cisco IOS-XE on Catalyst 9200/9300/9400/9500/9600 series).

Automation & Programmability: 2+ years of practical experience with network automation, programmability, and scripting using Python, REST APIs / RESTCONF, Ansible, Terraform, or pyATS test automation frameworks.

Professional Certification: Cisco CCNP Enterprise certification (or equivalent) and demonstrated certification or equivalent proficiency in Network Programmability / DevOps (e.g., Cisco DevNet Associate/Professional).

Preferred Qualifications

Zero-Trust & Identity Integration: Hands-on experience integrating Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine) with SDA / Catalyst Center for dynamic endpoint profiling, 802.1X authentication, and TrustSec / SGT micro-segmentation.

Advanced & Expert Certifications: Cisco CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure (or CCIE Routing & Switching), Cisco Certified DevNet Professional, or equivalent industry certifications.

Cloud & SaaS On-Ramp: Experience configuring SD-WAN Cloud OnRamp for IaaS/SaaS (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Microsoft 365) and integrating ThousandEyes telemetry for end-to-end hop-by-hop visibility.

Intellectual Capital & Template Creation: Demonstrated record of developing standardized YAML data models, Jinja2 configuration templates, or CI/CD pipelines for Catalyst SD-WAN and Catalyst Center deployments.

Consultative Leadership & Mentorship: Strong consultative presentation skills with a history of mentoring technical peers and delivering technical workshops to customer architects.
