Job description

Shape how life science brands win access, and do it alongside a team that has supported 120+ product launches.

About the Role

As VP, Market Access & Pricing, you’ll be one of our Industry Experts, a senior voice who tells clients what the market will actually do with their product. You’ll bring real-world payer, PBM, or channel experience to market access strategy, pricing and contracting, and value-based initiatives. You’ll inform, challenge, and sometimes reinforce what our clients are planning, so they can clear barriers, strengthen their market position, and get the most from their investment.

This is a client-facing, hands-on role. You’ll be in the room for strategy sessions, payer roundtables, and status meetings, and you’ll also shape the work product behind them.

Advise clients on access and reimbursement strategy

  • Deliver candid, industry-leading perspectives on access and reimbursement challenges, including honest assessments of a product’s therapeutic and competitive value
  • Recommend pricing and contracting approaches, including GTN, distribution, and patient services, that influence access
  • Build value-based principles into payer and manufacturer strategies, including value-based contracting frameworks and the operational capabilities behind them
  • Find creative, compliant solutions across the stakeholder landscape: payers, PBMs, employer groups, benefit consultants, GPOs, health systems, distributors, wholesalers, and pharmacies
  • Guide clients on the impact of reinsurance and legislative policy on high-cost therapies

Work across client and internal teams

  • Partner with client Pricing and Contracting, Payer Marketing, Market Access Field teams, HEOR/Medical Affairs, Legal, and Finance so strategies are aligned with brand objectives, compliant, and ready to implement
  • Draw on insights and data from our internal teams, our systems, and external customers to sharpen recommendations
  • Contribute content and feedback to deliverables, lead the expert segments of client presentations, and take ownership of project tasks
  • Support internal teams such as Market Insights and Strategic Engagement by reviewing drafts, including product value propositions, from a payer’s point of view

Typical engagements

  • Market access strategy and product profiles, including market approach and competitive positioning
  • Payer assessments and market landscape perspectives
  • Formulary and product management, and risk management
  • Value- and outcomes-based approaches to the market
  • Payer perspectives on value and outcomes, and clinical value relative to competitors
  • HEOR relevance guidance
  • Leading or joining roundtables and panels that give clients real-time insight into payer perceptions
  • Education and training on reinsurance, VBCs, and contract negotiations

Grow the business and our profile

  • Identify target customers and the best ways to engage them, and support consultants and other teams in business development
  • Build or contribute to capability presentations
  • Drive adoption of COEBRA™, our evidence and outcomes adjudication platform, and future data-driven offerings
  • Represent Red Nucleus at conferences, networking events, and in publications and public forums, sharing expertise and company-approved positions
  • Manage payer, PBM, or reinsurer relationships in coordination with our Talent and Customer Engagement teams, and make connections where helpful
  • Give feedback on our service offerings and positioning

Experience

  • 10+ years in a concentrated healthcare customer-side field, such as payer, PBM, Medicare, Medicaid, reinsurer, integrated delivery network, or group purchasing organization
  • Demonstrated, real-world experience and strategic support in:
    • The US market access landscape: payers, provider organizations, channel intermediaries, site-of-care economics, patient access, and drug reimbursement dynamics
    • Breaking through reimbursement barriers to achieve access
    • Drug distribution channels
    • Provider economics, including buy-and-bill practices and what office-administered drugs need for a successful launch
    • Pricing and contracting strategy for retail and specialty products
    • Payer, IDN, and channel strategy development and execution
    • Government pricing program regulations and logistics

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to craft clear, concise presentations
  • Strong collaboration in a virtual environment, and the ability to work independently
  • Comfort in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, creative setting
  • Strong time management and rigorous attention to detail
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Proactive engagement with new and existing customers

Practical Details

  • Travel: up to 20% (client meetings, conferences, company meetings)
  • Schedule: Client work is deadline-driven, so occasional extended hours, including some weekends, may be needed
  • Work environment: Virtual collaboration, with extended periods at a computer;
  • Location / compensation: Remote - home office based in United States
