InvestNext

Investment Management

At InvestNext, we set out on a mission to transform the way investment firms raise and manage capital. The company is based in Detroit, Michigan, and was founded in 2016. At the time, we realized the industry as a whole operates within a black box, with countless hours spent on activities that made fundraising, investment management, and investor relations tedious and inefficient. Since day one, we’ve known that tomorrow’s investor is one who will not only have access to detailed performance metrics across their portfolio, but also have the full picture of the positive impact they have made on the communities they have invested in. With that in mind, we’ve built a software platform that enables investment firms to operate more effectively and provide greater transparency to their investors. Instrumental to this effort, has been our close partnerships with commercial real estate syndicators and other investment firms around the globe. As of today, we are trusted by tens of thousands of investors, with billions of dollars managed on the platform.

Job description

InvestNext — People-centric, opportunity-amplifying, built to scale.

At InvestNext, we’re building a connected real estate investment management platform that gives General Partners (GPs) and Investor Relations teams the essential tools to cultivate strong investor relationships, reduce administrative complexity, and grow their portfolios with confidence.

Inspired by our Detroit roots, we believe access to real estate investing should be broader, more transparent, and easier to navigate. The same grit and bold thinking that fueled Detroit’s resurgence shapes how we build. For us, democratizing real estate investing isn’t a slogan, it’s the reason our platform exists: to create clearer, more accessible pathways for people to participate in wealth-building opportunities.

GTM Engineer

The GTM Engineer owns the data, systems, and processes behind InvestNext’s commercial engine. This is a senior individual contributor role that combines strategy and execution: you will set direction for our commercial systems and build them yourself, with no direct reports. We are hiring for the long term. Sitting within the Commercial team and reporting to our CCO, this role gives Sales, Marketing, and CX the definitions, data, and tools they need to win and retain customers. The first priority is the foundation: one agreed definition for every core metric, clean and enriched account data, and Salesforce as the trusted system of record, so that reporting and forecasting can be conducted with confidence. This role is expected to deeply understand each team’s core workflows, consult the people who use our systems before building for them, and lead change management so every launch is tested, communicated, and adopted. Success is measured in commercial outcomes such as pipeline creation, cycle  time, and retention.

About the team

This role sits within our Commercial team, and as its sole owner, this role will have a tremendous impact on the organization’s financial performance. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside executive leaders, help set commercial priorities, and have a lot of autonomy across our portfolio. The team already values fast, reliable support from RevOps, and the opportunity now is to build the data foundation that makes every workflow, report and forecast trustworthy. The right person to join this team will have a deep sense of ownership over their work, find incredible joy in solving problems, and have a natural bias to action, balanced by the discipline to test and communicate before anything ships. For the right person, this is a chance to build a machine that drives future growth on top of positive business momentum.

In this role, you will

  • Own metric definitions and the source of truth: Maintain our commercial metric dictionary and customer segment definitions (SMB, mid-market, and enterprise), build them into Salesforce exactly as defined, and keep one published home where anyone can look up what a metric means.
  • Own data quality and integrity: Make Salesforce the system of record for commercial data, reconcile it with other tools, keep customers and prospects clearly separated across every system, and publish a monthly data-quality scorecard.
  • Connect the full ecosystem: Design how our sales, marketing, CX, and finance systems work together so data moves cleanly between them, and partner with Finance on a single source of truth for revenue data across Salesforce, Stripe, and our financial tools.
  • Run data enrichment: Set the minimum enrichment standards every account must meet, manage enrichment providers, and give reps qualified, accurate lists so they spend their time prospecting & selling instead of verifying contact data.
  • Build trusted reporting and forecasting: Build self-serve dashboards on clean data.
  • Help develop strategy: Be an active participant at the Commercial leadership table, bringing a deep understanding of current performance and trends, and proactive recommendations tied to revenue.
  • Identify & action insights: Actively seek out, validate, and share unique insights, ideas, or trends with the broader team to drive accountability and ongoing improvement.
  • Design for the end user: Consult the people who use a system before you build it, train them when it launches, measure success by adoption and refine systems over time. Own the launch plan for every new tool so adoption is planned from day one.
  • Test and communicate every change: Validate major changes in a sandbox, test the data as well as the mechanism, and launch every change with clear communication, documentation, and training.
  • Own intake and prioritization: Run a single front door for requests, scope work up front, and agree on priorities with leadership based on commercial impact, so the most valuable work always comes first.
  • Architect tech stack: From note-taking to core CRM, you will own the software products that the team relies on, including AI tools, and are expected to source, implement, and maintain them in top shape. Keep an eye out for new products that would serve the team and maximize the value we derive from each tool in our stack. Troubleshoot day to day by being the go-to person for anyone experiencing a blocker in their daily workflows and help resolve it and ensure it doesn’t happen again.
  • Automate & Integrate: Find ways, large and small, to reduce the manual work needed for team members to complete core workflows where they do not add value and reduce tool redundancy.
  • Decide what to build, buy, or automate: Look across the whole stack and decide what to automate, what to buy, and what to hand to Engineering or Finance, so manual work doesn’t pile up in one seat.
  • Troubleshoot day to day: Be the go-to person for anyone experiencing a blocker in their daily workflows and help resolve it and ensure it doesn’t happen again.

If you’re right for this role, you have:

  • Ability to act as a consultant to understand the needs of a stakeholder and come up with potential solutions, then as a project manager to execute a solution and facilitate the change management for impacted team members.
  • A track record in data governance: defining metrics and customer segments, deduplicating records, and measuring data quality over time.
  • Experience owning data enrichment, including setting enrichment standards and evaluating providers.
  • Experience building pipeline forecasts and leadership reporting that executives rely on without re-checking by hand.
  • A disciplined approach to releasing changes, including sandbox and user acceptance testing, release communications, and ongoing training.
  • Experience building multi-system architecture that minimizes cost and complexity while delivering a best in class experience for users.
  • Solid understanding of B2B SaaS sales, marketing, and customer success strategy, and the metrics behind them, such as pipeline, net revenue retention, and CAC payback.
  • Hands on experience supporting sales and marketing team, in addition to customer success.
  • A track record of launching new tools and driving lasting adoption, including how you enabled users and refined the tool after go-live.
  • Significant Salesforce experience, including:
    • Custom development (or other creative technical solutions to problems)
    • External app integrations
    • Managing data structure
    • Development of reports and dashboards
  • Extensive use of automation tools, including Zapier, GitHub & Salesforce Flows
    • Preferred to have examples beyond the out of the box triggers and actions.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, including procurement and renewal negotiations.
  • Comfort working independently with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Comfort using AI tools to solve operational problems at scale.
