Job description

We are a leading global software company dedicated to the world of computer aided design, 3D modeling and simulation— helping innovative global manufacturers design better products, faster! With the resources of a large company, and the energy of a software start-up, we have fun together while creating a world class software portfolio. Our culture encourages creativity, welcomes fresh thinking, and focuses on growth, so our people, our business, and our customers can achieve their full potential.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a senior electrical, electronics (E/E), systems, and embedded software professional with deep, hands-on design experience who is ready to expand their career into information development, using that expertise to create documentation and other user assistance that helps customers harness the power of Capital.

This role supports the Capital product portfolio, including software used to design and model electrical wiring systems for automotive, aerospace, and marine applications. The position focuses on documentation for products that support vehicle electrical systems, wiring architectures, harness development, and data networking technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learns the software product, conducts research, and becomes a subject-matter expert.
  • Creates user-focused content, including online help, tutorials, graphics, videos, and other technical learning materials.
  • Plans, develops, and maintains new and existing information solutions for end users of systems development software.
  • Creates documentation that enables customers to effectively design, model, and manage complex electrical wiring systems and related engineering solutions.
  • Uses MadCap IXIA (DITA XML) content-authoring tools to create and maintain end-user technical documentation.
  • Analyzes software functionality and engineering workflows to determine the most effective ways to communicate information to end users.
  • Collaborates with product managers, software developers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand new functionality and document product enhancements.
  • Communicates project progress to stakeholders through meetings and status updates.
  • Works closely with other internal teams to develop, coordinate, and track deliverables.
  • Contributes to documentation improvements that support future product growth and evolving customer needs.
  • Supports team-wide documentation initiatives while adhering to established content standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Effectively leverages AI tools and technologies, where appropriate, to improve productivity and enhance documentation quality.

Requirements:

  • Ability to understand technical and mechanical engineering concepts and learn complex, specialized E/E systems development solution product functionality and applications.
  • Ability to understand complex technical concepts and translate them into clear, accurate, user-focused documentation.
  • Experience with electrical harness design, wiring systems, vehicle electronics, networking technologies, or similar engineering domains is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated user-focused technical writing ability. Must be able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple complex projects simultaneously while managing competing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills. Effectively communicates in one-to-one and group situations.
  • Collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn, adapt to established team processes, and contribute positively to team culture.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (or international graduate of an equivalent university-level program) in Mechanical Engineering, Technical Communication, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Technical and product-domain expertise is strongly preferred and may be considered more valuable than formal technical writing education.
  • Previous experience with Siemens Capital software is desired.
  • Experience supporting software products used in automotive, aerospace, marine, or related engineering industries is desired.
  • Ability to use generative AI tools to enhance productivity is desired.
