Shapes business-aligned technology strategies, target-state architectures, and roadmaps across deposits, customer information, marketing, product and pricing, branch and contact center experiences, payments, cards, ATMs, item processing, servicing, and related operational platforms.

Consumer lending and digital channel architecture are outside the primary scope of this role and are supported by separate architecture roles.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve domain architecture strategies and roadmaps aligned with Consumer Banking and Marketing priorities, regulatory requirements, enterprise standards, and long-term technology direction.
  • Develop current-state and target-state architectures, capability models, value streams, reference patterns, and transition roadmaps across the Consumer Banking and Marketing landscape.
  • Translate strategic objectives into actionable high-level and solution architectures that guide delivery and engineering teams without assuming day-to-day delivery ownership.
  • Architect interoperable customer, product, pricing, payments, cards, branch, contact center, ATM, item processing, marketing, campaign, consent, and servicing capabilities.
  • Promote consistent customer identity, profile, preference, consent, authentication, personalization, and communication patterns across the consumer ecosystem.
  • Partner with business, product, data, technology, cybersecurity, risk, compliance, operations, and experience teams to align investment and sequencing decisions.
  • Provide architecture governance and lifecycle oversight to ensure implementations align with approved standards, roadmaps, resilience objectives, and control requirements.
  • Evaluate vendor and platform options for enterprise fit, functional coverage, integration, cost, operational resilience, third-party risk, and the avoidance of unnecessary duplication.
  • Communicate architecture decisions, tradeoffs, dependencies, and investment implications clearly to senior business and technology leaders.

Domain and Architecture Expertise

  • Consumer and retail deposit products, customer onboarding and servicing, customer information, branch operations, contact centers, payments, cards, ATMs, item processing, product and pricing, marketing, campaigns, offers, and customer communications.
  • Marketing technology, customer data and audience activation, personalization, consent and preference management, campaign orchestration, measurement, and integration with enterprise data platforms.
  • Modern architecture patterns, including APIs, events, microservices, cloud platforms, workflows, automation, data platforms, identity, and integration architecture.
  • Consumer-specific regulatory and control considerations, including UDAAP, FCRA, EFTA/Regulation E, GLBA, privacy, fair lending, records retention, and applicable requirements for customer communications and marketing.
  • Business capability modeling, value-stream mapping, target-state architecture, roadmap development, technology standards, portfolio alignment, and architecture governance.
  • Data architecture concepts, including customer and product master data, metadata, lineage, data quality, analytics enablement, and the responsible use of customer data.
  • Operational resilience, cybersecurity, data privacy, authentication, fraud-control integration, and secure architecture practices.
  • Platforms such as Hogan, Genesys, card and payment platforms, ATM and item-processing systems, CRM, marketing automation, customer data platforms, workflow platforms, and enterprise integration services. Product-specific experience is beneficial but not required unless stated for a particular opening.

Minimum Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 11 years of higher education and/or relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in enterprise, domain, solution, or application architecture, including at least 3 years supporting consumer or retail banking capabilities and technology.
  • Demonstrated experience developing target-state architectures, reference patterns, roadmaps, and transition plans across a complex application and data landscape.
  • Experience integrating enterprise platforms, legacy systems, APIs, events, data services, and third-party products within a regulated environment.
  • Working knowledge of architecture modeling and documentation practices, with the ability to communicate effectively with executive, business, and engineering audiences.
  • Experience evaluating vendors and technology options and translating business, risk, operational, and financial considerations into clear recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with deposit platforms, customer information systems, branch and contact center technology, payments, cards, ATMs, item processing, marketing technology, CRM, product and pricing, or customer communications.
  • Experience within a large financial institution with complex legacy modernization, regulatory, data, and operational resilience requirements.
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture methods and tools, including capability models, value streams, roadmaps, and architecture repositories.

Expected Deliverables
