About Military.com

Military.com is a leading digital destination for U.S. service members, veterans, and their families. We provide news, information, and resources to help the military community navigate their careers, benefits, education, and life beyond military service.

We are looking for a talented freelance writer to produce three informative, engaging, and research-driven list articles for Military.com. The ideal candidate is an excellent researcher and writer who knows how to turn complex information into accessible content that provides real value to our audience.

Responsibilities

  • Write Three List-Based Articles: Produce three high-quality articles focused on employment, education, and career opportunities for veterans and military families.
  • Research and Fact-Check: Identify credible sources, verify information, and ensure all recommendations, rankings, and supporting details are accurate and up to date.
  • Develop Engaging Content: Create well-structured, easy-to-read articles that help readers compare their options and make informed decisions.
  • Optimize for SEO: Incorporate relevant keywords, compelling headlines, and search-friendly formatting to maximize organic visibility.
  • Follow Editorial Guidelines: Deliver content that aligns with Military.com’s editorial standards, audience expectations, and established article formats.
  • Meet Deadlines: Deliver all three articles within the agreed-upon timeline, incorporating feedback and revisions when necessary.

Requirements

  • Proven experience writing articles, blog posts, listicles, or other digital content.
  • Excellent research, fact-checking, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify credible sources and synthesize information into clear, engaging content.
  • Understanding of SEO writing principles and digital publishing best practices.
  • Ability to organize information into compelling headlines, subheadings, lists, and concise sections.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines independently.
  • Familiarity with the U.S. military community, veterans, military spouses, or military-friendly employers is a strong asset.

Project Details

  • Engagement: Freelance, contract-based assignment.
  • Deliverables: Three completed list articles for Military.com.
  • Work Arrangement: Fully remote.
  • Timeline: To be agreed upon with the selected writer.
  • Compensation: To be determined based on experience and the proposed project scope.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a writer who can combine strong research skills with engaging storytelling and practical information. The ideal candidate understands that our readers need more than a simple list of names: they need useful context, credible information, and clear reasons why each employer or educational institution deserves consideration.

Experience covering military careers, veteran resources, higher education, or employment is a plus, but strong writing and research skills are our primary priorities.
