At Ciena, we believe strong compliance goes beyond policies and processes. It’s about having the right systems, trusted data, and timely risk insights to help the business make confident decisions. As compliance continues to evolve, technology, analytics, and automation are increasingly central to how effective programs operate at scale. Reporting to Ciena’s Head of Corporate Compliance & Ethics, you’ll bring these worlds together, combining compliance expertise with technology and risk intelligence to strengthen controls, sharpen decision-making, and build smarter, more scalable compliance operations across the business.

  • Translate policy and regulatory requirements into sustainable, measurable operational processes.
  • Develop standardized processes, documentation, and workflows supporting compliance operations.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Analyze data and report findings for internal audits, investigations, risk assessments, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Administer compliance operational systems and technology platforms.
  • Partner internally and with vendors to design, test, validate, and deploy system changes, integrations, upgrades, and improvements.

The must haves:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Finance, Ethics, Technology, Data, or other related area of study.
  • Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in Compliance, Ethics, Risk Management, Internal Controls, Legal Operations, or related disciplines.
  • Experience supporting compliance programs within a multinational public company.
  • Demonstrated experience administering and optimizing compliance technology platforms and operational workflows.
  • Experience developing dashboards, KPIs, metrics, and executive reporting.
  • Ability to transform complex data into actionable business insights.
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects and technology implementations.

Nice to haves:

  • Certifications: Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or equivalent combination of certification and experience.
  • Experience with compliance-related platforms for third-party due diligence and risk management solutions; gifts and entertainment management tools; conflict of interest disclosure systems; investigation and case management platforms; policy management and attestation systems; and privacy regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with business operations systems including Corporate ERP, sales opportunity management, supplier lifecycle management, and expense reporting platforms.
  • Experience applying AI responsibly to address compliance challenges and support efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Experience with business intelligence and analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of anti-corruption, anti-bribery (including the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and U.K. Bribery Act), third-party risk, insider trading, investigations, conflicts of interest, privacy, Gifts and Entertainment management, and compliance program governance leading practices.
