Job description

Location: Remote

Job Type: Full-time

About Us!

At Ready Computing, we specialize in data-centric IT solutions that help organizations across healthcare, supply chain, finance, and manufacturing optimize their technology and data strategies. With offices in the U.S. and the UK, we provide expert consulting, development, and managed services to clients worldwide. We're committed to hiring top talent to drive innovation, particularly in the healthcare IT space.

The Software Architect designs Wellbase, Ready Computing’s managed services suite for healthcare and social-care organizations, and remains hands-on through implementation. Wellbase provides hosting, monitoring, analytics, and security to keep mission-critical systems available, secure, and improving. This player-coach role involves designing and owning end-to-end solutions while leading a small delivery team.

The work includes Wellbase’s agentic AI companion (Lucas), governed and auditable Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations, policy and governance services, and product demonstration and staging environments. The role calls for curiosity about emerging technologies, confidence presenting architecture and tradeoffs to executives, and a strong sense of ownership.

What you'll do

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Define technical requirements and target architecture for new platform capabilities, and stay accountable through design, implementation, and release.
  • Design and lead delivery of agentic AI solutions, including tool-using agents, evaluation approaches, and safe integration with healthcare workflows.
  • Architect and extend MCP-based services that connect agents and applications to enterprise systems, data, and licensed capabilities.
  • Own architecture for policy and governance services that control access, content decisions, and regulated use of data and AI.
  • Shape the architecture of demo and staging environments so new capabilities can be shown reliably to customers and executives.
  • Lead a small team as a player-coach: set technical direction, review design and code, and implement the hardest pieces yourself.
  • Present architecture, options, and recommendations to executive stakeholders; take ownership of decisions and outcomes.
  • Apply CI/CD, cloud, and Kubernetes deployment practices to keep the platform releasable and operable.
  • Mentor developers and raise the quality bar for design, security, and delivery.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation that others can build from.
  • Design and optimize data stores (relational and, where needed, vector or other specialized stores) to support agents, applications, and governance.
  • Implement authorization, policy, and security controls appropriate to healthcare and other regulated data.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

What you bring

Technical Skills

  • Expertise in software architecture and design patterns for cloud-native and service-based enterprise systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and/or Java, with the ability to work across a polyglot stack.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud preferred), containers, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience designing REST APIs and distributed services; familiarity with workflow or orchestration systems is a plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and development tools such as Git, Jenkins, and JIRA.
  • Database design and optimization, primarily relational (PostgreSQL); exposure to vector or search stores is a plus.
  • Familiarity with enterprise frameworks such as Spring or FastAPI.
  • Working knowledge of policy-as-code, authorization frameworks, or similar governance controls is a plus.
  • Some hands-on experience with agentic AI development (LLM-based agents, tool use or MCP, evaluation design, or similar).
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry (OTel).
  • Demonstrated curiosity and a track record of evaluating and adopting new technologies where they create real leverage.

Qualaifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Development, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of software development experience with a focus on enterprise-level architectures, including hands-on design and implementation. Some experience building or leading agentic AI solutions is required.
  • Comfort working with healthcare or other regulated data environments.
  • Deep healthcare-interoperability experience is helpful but not required.

Core Competencies

  • Technical Architectural Leadership: Architects scalable, future-ready solutions and leads a small team through implementation, remaining hands-on on the hardest work.
  • Solution Ownership: Takes end-to-end accountability for designs and outcomes, from first concept through delivery and operation.
  • Curiosity and Innovation: Actively explores new technologies and approaches, especially in agentic AI and platform engineering, and applies them with sound judgment.

  • Analytical Problem-Solving: Diagnoses and resolves intricate technical challenges in order to keep programs moving.
  • Attention to Detail & Security: Maintains rigorous standards in design and development to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of enterprise solutions.

Physical & Mental Qualifications:

Employees must be able to focus on multiple tasks and project requirements throughout the workday. Most positions may require occasional travel.

Home Office Requirements

  • A minimum internet speed of 25 Mbps for downloads and 1.5 Mbps for uploads is required.
