A successful candidate will act as a key ambassador for the firm, expanding our footprint and credibility through established industry relationships and thought leadership. To assist with direct project delivery, you will provide consulting services to our clients by providing industry expertise and guidance, facilitating executive exercises, and advising on complex project closeouts to recommend strategic and tactical next steps, and will work directly with internal leadership and delivery teams throughout applicable projects.

This posting is being used to build a talent pipeline for potential future openings across our firm. This opportunity is open to Independent Contractors (1099) only at this time; as such, a valid Employer Identification Number (EIN) will be required in order to be considered for this opportunity.

Responsibilities for the Independent Contractor, Energy & Critical Infrastructure Include:

  • Strategic Advisory: Facilitate monthly/quarterly strategic planning sessions with internal Energy and Critical Infrastructure teams to analyze emerging sector trends, guide project development, and identify high-value networking opportunities.
  • Conference & Relationship Strategy: Partner with internal teams ahead of major energy and infrastructure conferences to develop targeted outreach plans, identify key attendees, and proactively facilitate introductions.
  • Business Development: Serve as a subject matter expert and strategic conduit, connecting internal teams with key stakeholders across energy utilities and infrastructure organizations to expand the firm’s programs.
  • Executive Facilitation & Evaluation: Provide high-level support as an exercise evaluator or lead facilitator for executive and senior leadership simulations, including complex, high-stakes engagements.
  • Consultative Project Closeout: Act as a value-add advisor during the project closeout phase, providing clients with actionable strategic guidance and defined “next steps” to ensure long-term project success.
  • Thought Leadership: Champion the firm’s expertise by authoring or participating in at least one industry-facing media initiative annually, such as a blog post, white paper, webinar, or informational interview.

Qualifications for the Independent Contractor, Energy & Critical Infrastructure Include:

  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in the energy or critical infrastructure sectors, including a proven track record of advising executive leadership or public-sector stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide actionable guidance on project strategy, industry trends, and long-term sector development.
  • Practiced experience facilitating or evaluating complex, high-stakes exercises for senior leadership or executive-level crisis management teams.
  • Strong existing network within energy utilities and critical infrastructure organizations, with the ability to facilitate high-level connections and drive strategic business outcomes.
  • Proven experience in thought leadership, such as public speaking, webinar facilitation, or authoring industry-focused publications.

Compensation for the Independent Contractor, Energy & Critical Infrastructure Include:

  • Salary range of $75-$200/hr. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and training, licensure and certifications, internal equity, location, travel requirements, and other business and organizational needs.
