The Role
The Executive Director of Medical Services reports to the Chief Care Officer and leads the day-to-day clinical operations of TimelyCare's Medical Services and Psychiatry teams. This is a highly visible, working clinical leadership role responsible for ensuring safe, timely, high-quality care for students across a complex, multi-state virtual-care environment. The ideal candidate is a Board Certified MD or DO with over 10 years of clinical experience—including at least 3 years in telehealth—and 7+ years of progressive leadership over multidisciplinary teams. Candidates must hold active, unrestricted physician licenses in all 50 states and DC, though individuals holding licenses in a substantial majority of jurisdictions may be considered if they demonstrate a credible, time-bound plan to achieve full licensure and meet TimelyCare’s coverage needs.
The Executive Director serves as a primary clinical coverage resource, directly stepping in to address patient-care and scheduling gaps when providers are unavailable or coverage needs change unexpectedly. The role combines approximately 50% dedicated clinical care, 25% flexible coverage and service-line support, and 25% administrative leadership, with flexibility to respond to patient, provider, client, and business needs. This role is also accountable for staffing, quality, provider performance, supervision planning, licensure coverage, and implementation of clinical operating practices that support continuity of care.
The Executive Director is the principal clinical escalation point for internal and external partners, including Sales, Customer Experience, campus stakeholders, and clients. They bring clinical judgment to prospective-client discussions, care-quality concerns, continuity-of-care issues, and other high-risk or sensitive escalations.
Within the role's defined authority, the Executive Director identifies service-line needs and leads implementation of practical solutions. This includes provider incentive programs, care-efficiency and cost-saving opportunities, supervision capacity planning, regulatory monitoring, and recommendations to Product, Operations, and executive leadership regarding needed changes to Medical Services.
