About Tilt

Tilt is an insurance broker running a fast-moving trading and technology operation, writing commercial vehicle (CV) and Trades & Professions Package (T&PP) business through our policy administration system, alongside a growing set of AI digital initiatives We're expanding the team and need a dedicated tester to keep quality high as we activate new products and customer journeys at pace.

Why we need this role

We are constantly expanding our products, integrations and customer journeys and need dedicated testing resource to create test plans, complete high quality and focussed testing, and introduce testing automation.

What you'll be doing

  • Running structured UAT on all change activities with the tech stack, including creation of test packs, testing, and reporting on issues. This will include:
  • the Tilt quote and buy journey ahead of releases, insurer scheme activations, and rating or rule changes.
  • new and changed product journeys across our product lines (Tradesman/T&PP, Property Owners, PI and Commercial Vehicle) on every release.
  • AI-powered applications (quoting app, chat)
  • the Tilt App, including new features, the registration and onboarding journey, and checks across devices and OS versions, through its test environment before features go live.
  • website changes as they're released, including CMS publishing and deployment, responsive rendering, page speed, accessibility, and A/B variant testing.
  • policy transactions (Mid term adjustments, Renewals) testing across the end-to-end process, and back-office mapping checks to confirm what's entered front-end lands correctly in our policy administration system.
  • customer communications (renewals and other lifecycle comms) across email clients and devices, including that the right message reaches the right customer at the right time, and that it's suppressed correctly when it should be (for example cancelled, lapsed, or already renewed).
  • validating that analytics and marketing tracking (for example GA4, Meta and TikTok) fires correctly after each release, including consent behaviour.
  • payment and servicing journeys, including card and digital wallet payments, payment widget rendering, MTA/refund/cancellation/auto-renewal paths, and Direct Debit setup.
  • how our systems behave when insurer or third-party APIs are slow, unavailable or return unexpected data, plus regression checks after fixes and environment changes (Dev, Test, Prod).
  • undefined
  • Logging clear, reproducible defects with steps, screenshots and version references, and tracking them through to resolution with the tech and API teams.
  • Working with customer experience, underwriting, trading and delivery colleagues to understand expected behaviour before testing against it.
  • Keeping test evidence and sign-off notes organised so releases have a clear audit trail, including for Consumer Duty requirements.

What we're looking for

Essential

  • Proven experience in software or QA testing, with a solid grasp of UAT process and structured test case design.
  • Comfortable writing bug reports that a developer can act on without back-and-forth.
  • Methodical and detail-focused, happy to repeat the same journey multiple ways to find what breaks it.
  • Good communicator, able to work directly with underwriters, developers and delivery leads.
  • Able to work effectively in a fully remote role: self-organised, comfortable over Teams, and proactive about flagging issues rather than waiting to be asked.
  • Experience building, deploying or using test automation.

Desirable

  • Experience testing within insurance or insurtech, ideally with Acturis or a similar broking platform.
  • Familiarity with tracking work in Azure DevOps or a similar board/ticketing tool.
  • Exposure to testing AI-powered or conversational (chat-based) product journeys.
  • ISTQB certification (Foundation level or above). Not essential, but a reasonable marker of formal testing grounding.

What do we offer in return?

A career that you define. At Howden, we value diversity – there is no one Howden type. Instead, we’re looking for individuals who share the same values as us:
