Blackpoint Cyber

Cybersecurity

Blackpoint Cyber is a technology-focused cybersecurity company headquartered in Maryland, USA. The company was established by former US Department of Defense and Intelligence security experts and leverages its real-world cyber experience and knowledge of malicious tradecraft to help MSPs safeguard their infrastructure and operations. Offering the only world-class, nation state-grade cybersecurity ecosystem, Blackpoint serves the MSP community using its own proprietary security operations and incident response platform, SNAP-Defense, which is available as a product or as a True Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service. Blackpoint not only detects breaches earlier than any other solution on the market, but its dedicated MDR security analysts work 24/7 to combine network visualization, insider threat monitoring, anti-malware, traffic analysis, and endpoint security in one rapidly deployed service to monitor and detain threats before it's too late. In addition to its MDR services, Blackpoint is launching LogIC, its new logging with integrated compliance service to help MSPs and their clients satisfy cyber compliance requirements, including assessments and audits. With simple push-button setup, LogIC’s hyper-efficient logging architecture and self-service web application allows you to generate compliance reports and manage all aspects of event and log collection. Streamline how you prepare for audits and know exactly where you are already covered without compromising your security posture. Blackpoint Cyber continues to work hard to deliver an end-to-end, effective cybersecurity ecosystem to the MSP community. The mission? Provide absolute, unified detection and response services for MSPs of all sizes to combat a constantly changing threat landscape. We’re winning the unfair fight. Are you? Job description

Blackpoint Cyber is the leading provider of world-class cybersecurity threat hunting, detection and remediation technology. Founded by former National Security Agency (NSA) cyber operations experts who applied their learnings to bring national security-grade technology solutions to commercial customers around the world, Blackpoint Cyber is in hyper-growth mode,  fueled by a recent $190m series C round.

Overview

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer who will help solve complex technical and operational problems in the cybersecurity industry. Candidates will directly support Blackpoint's cybersecurity mission, helping to stop cyber-attacks, and protecting Blackpoint's rapidly growing customer base.

Summary:

The Product Engineering team is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer who will thrive in a fast-paced, remote environment. In this role, you will be instrumental in building and scaling both the application-layer services and the underlying platform and data infrastructure that power our cybersecurity products — spanning full-stack development and platform/data engineering across multiple product teams. This position is ideal for someone who excels in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about developing robust, scalable systems that address complex cybersecurity challenges.

This role reports to the VP of Product Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for delivering on business-critical outcomes through your product contributions to our cybersecurity platform, defining and building world-class user experiences that delight all our Blackpoint customers and owning those experiences end-to-end.

  • Lead and drive projects across the stack — TypeScript, React, and Node.js services hosted on Kubernetes — as well as the underlying data pipelines and platform infrastructure that support them.

  • Lead architectural decisions for platform and data systems across ingestion, modeling, storage, and orchestration, including implementing patterns like the Medallion Architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold) where relevant.

  • Design and maintain pipelines for onboarding new data domains and integrating them into product-facing services.

  • Strengthen observability across services and pipelines — introducing metrics, lineage, SLAs/SLOs, and alerting.

  • Leverage your deep understanding of design and architecture, along with best practices in design patterns, to optimize for performance, scale, and resiliency.

  • Excel as a team player by recognizing the importance of diverse perspectives and managing expectations and needs across numerous cross-functional groups, including mentoring other engineers and leading them in complex, cross-functional projects.

  • Communicate effectively with leadership to define technical solutions, aligning them with high-level business objectives and providing clear progress updates.

  • Identify, evaluate, and implement AI-powered tools and practices that enhance development, testing, delivery, and observability — championing responsible use of AI to automate routine tasks and boost team productivity.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of industry experience in software or platform engineering, with demonstrated expertise delivering scalable, high-performance systems in fast-paced, enterprise-level environments.

  • Proficiency in front-end technologies such as React, TypeScript, and a solid understanding of modern front-end architecture, design patterns, and best practices.

  • Strong backend development skills with Node.js, including experience building and maintaining microservices architectures on Kubernetes.

  • Cloud infrastructure & operations experience (AWS required; Azure/GCP helpful).

  • Experience with data streaming & event-driven processing (Kafka, Spark Structured Streaming) and distributed ETL/batch processing.

  • Expertise in designing and consuming APIs (REST, GraphQL, or gRPC), with a focus on creating secure, scalable, and high-performance services.

  • Strong understanding of database design, performance tuning, and indexing across both SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) databases, as well as modern table formats (Iceberg, Parquet) where applicable.

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, or similar), automating testing, deployment, and scaling of services.

  • A deep understanding of security best practices, including securing APIs, handling sensitive data, and managing authentication/authorization (OAuth, JWT).

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining rigorous code quality, security review, and architectural integrity.

  • Strong desire to work in a fast-paced, start-up environment with multiple releases a day.

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment, with the ability to lead sprint planning and align team efforts with business objectives.

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of diagnosing complex issues and implementing innovative approaches to overcome technical challenges.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with BI semantic layers, medallion architectures, or graph/search systems (e.g., Trino/Presto).

  • Background in cybersecurity, SIEM, or event-driven systems.

  • Experience with internationalization (i18n) and localization (l10n) frameworks.

  • Experience evaluating and integrating LLM-based capabilities or AI features into production SaaS products.

  • Familiarity with Agile Scrum.
