Job description

Ambition has no passport. That belief is why LemFi exists. We're the financial engine for people the world wasn't built to serve, the millions who move countries to build something better and find the financial system hasn't caught up with them yet. We started with remittances: the money people send home to the people they love. Now we run multi-currency accounts, Savings, eSIMs and Credit. Because staying connected to home and building somewhere new are not two separate things. They never were.

About the role

LemFi is the financial engine for people the world wasn't built to serve, processing remittances, multi-currency accounts, credit, savings and eSIMs across more than 21 countries. Our Compliance Operations team is the reason our customers can trust every transaction they send.

As an AML Operations Analyst (Fraud) in the Compliance Operations team, you will protect LemFi and its customers from fraud losses while keeping our products easy and safe to use. You will report to the FinCrime Operations Manager and work at the centre of day to day fraud decisions, balancing loss prevention with customer experience.

You will investigate fraud alerts and cases, handle fraud reports from customers, banks and partners, respond to chargebacks and help spot new fraud patterns early so we can act before losses grow.

Our Compliance Operations team works collaboratively across Transaction Monitoring & Sanctions, Customer Due Diligence, Fraud, and Investigations. We match candidates to the area that best aligns with their skills and strengths, so you may be placed in a different area from the one you applied for. As you develop your skills and grow within the team, there may also be opportunities to move across these areas.

What you'll build and own

  • Review & Decide: Work fraud alerts and cases and make accurate, timely decisions to block, restrict or release activity.

  • Investigate Fraud: Run end to end investigations into card funding fraud, account takeover, APP scams, first party fraud and coordinated account networks, using device, IP, transaction and identity data.

  • Handle Fraud Reports: Review fraud reports and recall requests from customers, banks and payment partners, take action on affected accounts and respond within agreed SLAs.

  • Manage Chargebacks: Review card disputes, gather evidence and submit responses within deadlines.

  • Serve Customers: Respond to fraud related customer tickets with clarity, professionalism, and empathy.

  • Spot Patterns: Identify emerging fraud trends and suggest rule or control changes to reduce losses.

  • Escalate Appropriately: Escalate cases with money laundering concerns to the AML team.

  • Collaborate: Work with product, engineering and payments teams to improve fraud rules and controls.

Your experience:

• 1- 3 years of fraud experience in a fintech, payments company or bank.

• Hands-on experience with card fraud, chargebacks, APP scams and account takeover investigations.

• Experience handling fraud reports and recall requests from banks and partners.

• Understanding of fraud rules in the markets we operate in, including APP scam reimbursement and card scheme dispute rules.

• Familiarity with KYC and ID verification checks is a plus.

• Ability to make defensible decisions on your own, quickly.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Good skills in Google Sheets or Excel. SQL or Metabase is a plus.

• CFE, CAMS or ICA certification is a plus.

• Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.

• Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as we run a 24/7 operation.

Nice to have

• Risk Minded: You apply sound judgement when assessing customer and transaction risk, balancing control with customer impact.

• Detail Oriented: You spot inconsistencies and red flags that others may miss, ensuring high quality case outcomes and notes.

• Ownership Driven: You take responsibility for your decisions and follow cases through to completion without constant oversight.

• Adaptable: You are comfortable working in a fast changing environment with evolving regulations and priorities and You stay calm under time pressure, especially when payments are on hold.

• Use Data to Support Decisions: Review alert and case information to support accurate decision making under guidance from senior team members.

• Collaborative: You work well with global teams and support shared outcomes over individual wins.
