Job description

We’re looking for a senior Python engineer ready to step into leadership, or an experienced technical lead who enjoys staying hands-on.

You’ll lead three backend developers working on payments, identity verification (KYC), location services, and other external integrations. You’ll help the team deliver new capabilities, evolve existing integrations, and keep them reliable in production.

A formal lead title isn’t required. Experience guiding projects, mentoring colleagues, or coordinating technical delivery is a strong foundation for this role.

Our stack: Python, Django, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, AWS.

Responsibilities
  • Design and build integrations, owning delivery from requirements and technical decisions through deployment, launch, and ongoing improvement.
  • Guide the team’s technical direction and delivery through clear responsibilities, design and code reviews, mentoring, shared knowledge, and constructive performance feedback.
  • Work with product, engineering, and external partners to agree priorities, communicate trade-offs, and deliver the intended results.
  • Improve existing integrations through testing, monitoring, logging, alerting, and documentation.
  • Introduce practical engineering improvements and help the wider team adopt them.
  • Investigate production issues and participate in the team’s on-call rotation.

  • Requirements
  • 5+ years of software development experience, with Python as your primary language and strong backend engineering skills.
  • Hands-on production experience with payments or similar financial systems, such as wallets, ledgers, transfers, or settlement, where duplicate or missing operations can affect money or financial records.
  • Experience personally launching and supporting an integration, resolving production problems, and verifying that affected transactions and records were recovered correctly.
  • Experience building reliable API and event-driven integrations, including handling duplicate notifications, concurrent requests, delayed responses, and recovery from failures.
  • Experience designing scalable services, working with databases, writing unit and integration tests, and using monitoring tools to investigate production behavior.
  • Examples of guiding a project, mentoring engineers, or coordinating delivery, alongside clear communication and an interest in developing your leadership skills.

  • Great to have
  • Experience with KYC providers and identity-verification workflows.
  • Experience with both incoming and outgoing payments and reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with Datadog, CloudWatch, Grafana, or similar tools.
  • Experience in startups, sports, betting, or gaming products.
