Job description

AI is becoming increasingly capable of performing financial analysis, building valuation models, and interpreting investment data. But the most demanding work in finance requires far more than applying formulas or following established frameworks. At Julius Research, we're recruiting exceptional MBA students with experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity, Venture Capital, Hedge Funds, and Equity Research to help advance the financial capabilities of frontier AI systems.

Your primary responsibility will be to create sophisticated financial challenges that test the limits of AI intelligence.

You'll draw on your professional experience to develop realistic investment scenarios requiring deep financial expertise, analytical thinking, and nuanced decision-making. By evaluating how leading AI systems approach these challenges, you'll uncover gaps in their capabilities and help establish new standards for AI performance in finance.

What You'll Do

  • Create expert-level financial challenges inspired by real investment banking, private equity, venture capital, and hedge fund workflows.

  • Develop sophisticated financial modeling exercises involving DCF valuations, LBOs, M&A transactions, and capital structure analysis.

  • Construct realistic investment scenarios incorporating incomplete information, conflicting financial indicators, and complex business considerations.

  • Design research assignments requiring the interpretation of SEC filings, earnings reports, financial statements, and market data.

  • Identify limitations in advanced AI models by assessing their analytical methods, financial assumptions, and investment conclusions.

  • Develop detailed solutions, evaluation frameworks, and benchmarks to measure AI performance against professional finance standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled or previously completed a Top 25 MBA program, preferably with a finance or investment focus.

  • 2+ years of professional experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity, Venture Capital, Hedge Funds, Asset Management, or Equity Research.

  • Previous experience as an Investment Banking Analyst/Associate, Private Equity Associate, Venture Capital Associate, Hedge Fund Analyst, Investment Analyst, or Equity Research Analyst.

  • Strong technical expertise in financial modeling, company valuation, financial statement analysis, and investment due diligence.

  • Hands-on experience with DCF, LBO, comparable company analysis, precedent transactions, or investment underwriting.

  • Experience preparing investment memoranda, pitch books, equity research reports, or investment committee presentations.

  • Excellent quantitative reasoning, analytical judgment, and written communication skills.
