Job description

At ArenaNet, we’ve always believed that games are art. They have the power to communicate ideas and tell stories. They can change the way we think, reflect our cultures, and move us. As the developer of the award-winning Guild Wars game series, we’re proud to share our passion for the online worlds we’ve created with over 21 million players worldwide.

ArenaNet develops and publishes games for every kind of person, which means our games need to be built by every kind of person. We believe the best experiences come from working together, celebrating differences, and helping each of our team members shine.

We are looking for a creative, strategic, and highly engaged Senior Social Media Marketing Specialist to bring the world of Guild Wars to life across social platforms. In this role, you'll own and execute social media strategies that connect with players, celebrate our community, and grow the franchise's reach and engagement.

You'll combine creative storytelling, hands-on content creation, and data-driven insights to develop compelling, platform-native content that resonates with gaming audiences. From producing engaging TikToks and YouTube videos to identifying emerging trends and amplifying player-generated content, you'll play a key role in shaping how Guild Wars shows up across social media.

Working closely with our Brand, Creative, Community, and Marketing teams, you'll help bring campaigns, game updates, and franchise moments to life while ensuring our social presence remains authentic, relevant, and connected to our players.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own and execute social media strategies across TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, X, and emerging platforms, tailoring content and engagement strategies to each audience.

  • Develop platform-specific content plans that reflect franchise priorities, player interests, cultural trends, and the Guild Wars brand voice.

  • Create engaging social-first content, including gameplay clips, memes, short-form videos, behind-the-scenes features, and franchise storytelling.

  • Concept, script, shoot, edit, and publish video content for TikTok, YouTube, and other social platforms.

  • Engage with the Guild Wars community, identify trending conversations, and curate and amplify player-generated content.

  • Partner with Brand, Creative, Community, PR, and Marketing teams to support campaigns, game updates, live events, and creator and influencer activations.

  • Brief internal creative teams and external agencies on content requiring additional production support, providing creative direction and managing vendor budgets as needed.

  • Monitor social media performance, audience engagement, platform trends, and algorithm changes to continuously refine content strategy and improve results.

  • Ensure social content meets accessibility, localization, and brand standards across platforms.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support time-sensitive communications and emergency messaging as needed.

  • Travel several times per year for industry events and other business needs.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience (5+ preferred), including at least 3 years in social media management and 2 years in game development or publishing.

  • Proven experience building, growing, and engaging audiences on TikTok and YouTube.

  • Hands-on experience creating, shooting, and editing social-first video content.

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, internet culture, creator ecosystems, and emerging content trends.

  • Ability to develop channel strategies, identify target audiences, establish success metrics, and create content that drives engagement.

  • Experience analyzing social media performance data and translating insights into actionable improvements.

  • Strong creative storytelling, copywriting, editorial judgment, and video content development skills.

  • Proficiency with video editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, or mobile-native editing applications.

  • Ability to independently produce engaging content using a smartphone or lightweight production equipment.

  • Experience providing creative direction and collaborating with internal production teams, agencies, or external partners.

  • Ability to translate game content, player sentiment, and community conversations into engaging, platform-native storytelling.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively across teams.

  • Knowledge of gaming culture, MMO communities, and player engagement.

NICES TO HAVE

  • Familiarity with the broader Guild Wars franchise.

  • Experience working with gaming creators, influencers, or online gaming communities.

  • Fluency in French, German, Spanish, or Korean.

This role is remote-friendly, but we are currently prioritizing candidates who are local to the Bellevue, WA area and open to occasional onsite collaboration.
