Job description

Hi! πŸ‘‹ I’m Dan, the Financial Controller based in Austin, TX. We’re looking to bring on a highly motivated Accounting Manager to join our growing team.

As we scale our global operations, our goal is to build a world-class finance function that ensures accuracy, compliance, and strategic insight to support decision-making across the company.

Location: This role is based in Austin, TX. While the day-to-day work is remote, you should expect a few in-person meetings, so candidates located in or near Austin are strongly preferred.

How We Work

At WeTravel Finance, we move fast and value autonomy. We don’t just manage spreadsheets, we build the financial backbone of a global platform. We look for teammates who take ownership of their work and care as much about the "how" as the "what". Our team is collaborative and cross-functional with high visibility. You will be supported by experienced colleagues, and have the opportunity to grow your career in a fast-paced environment.

Our culture is guided by four core values that define every interaction we have, whether with a third-party or a colleague:

  • Be Respectful: We foster a welcoming, inclusive environment that thrives on diverse perspectives and unique life experiences.

  • Be Honest: We default to transparency, building genuine connections with our team and customers through radical honesty.

  • Be Resourceful: we think big and act creatively. We find ways to succeed even when the path ahead isn't perfectly mapped out.

  • Be the Solution: We lead with a solution-first mindset. It’s not enough to identify a problem; we collaborate to fix it.

Why You Should or Shouldn't Apply

You should apply if you:

  • Have 5+ years of progressive accounting experience including 2+ years with a large US public accounting firm

  • Have an active CPA license and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Are highly proficient in our core software stack: NetSuite, Ramp, Excel, Google Suite

  • Are comfortable in a fast paced and growing global organization

  • Are a team player who communicates clearly and effectively, and feels comfortable working with multiple stakeholders in both the US and Europe

  • Have demonstrated ability to deliver timely and high quality work in a remote environment

  • Have experience managing a team

  • Are able to travel to our Amsterdam HQ 2-3 times a year

You might not be the right fit if you:

  • Struggle to meet deadlines or need constant oversight

  • Aren’t comfortable working in a remote or tech-savvy environment

  • Don’t feel comfortable managing people

On a Weekly Basis You Will Find Yourself

  • Owning transaction and payment revenue and the revenue ledger. This includes working with the Product and Engineering teams to understand the product pipeline and how that impacts revenue.

  • Preparing advanced balance sheet reconciliations

  • Assisting the Controller on global tax compliance, including transfer pricing

  • Supporting the Controller on financial reporting and financial statement prep

  • Owning additional responsibilities and ad hoc reporting such as assistance on statutory foreign audits or M&A activity.

Benefits

  • Your health matters – US team members get 100% employer-covered HDHP medical, PPO dental, and standard vision coverages or a choice of plans that suit your needs.

  • Generous "Time to Recharge" policy β€” enjoy unlimited paid time off to rest, recharge, and show up as your best self.

  • Amsterdam Program – visit us in Amsterdam (HQ) for 2-4 weeks every year, staying in one of our WeTravel apartments.

  • Work remotely for a maximum of 4 weeks per calendar year. (Although this is a remote role, employees are hired into a designated state/country of employment. Our Work From Anywhere benefit provides eligible employees with up to four weeks per calendar year to work temporarily from another approved location.)

  • Extensive paid family leave.

  • Three paid volunteer days per year β€” take time to give back to causes you care about, on us.

  • 2-week cross-functional onboarding program.

  • Cutting-edge equipment and tools to set you up for success. Coverage for certain work-from-home (WFH) equipment.

  • Employer-sponsored 401(k) plan with a 2% company match to support your long-term financial goals.

  • Access to our Booking Marketplace: Book hotels and flights for personal travel at exclusive discounted rates.

  • Join an international, travel-loving team with a passion for adventure and innovation.

Please Note

  • At this time, we are not accepting applications from candidates residing in the following states: Alaska, California, Colorado, New York, or Washington.

  • For this role, we can only consider candidates who have the full legal right to work in the US (citizenship or residency). Unfortunately, WeTravel is not able to offer visa sponsorship or relocation assistance at this time.
