Job description

Lunon is an AI-native consulting firm headquartered in New York City, backed by General Catalyst. We believe most companies don't need another deck about AI. They need someone who can walk in, understand the operation, and ship. So we embed engineers inside the business, build in their environment, and stay until it runs without us.

It works. In the last year this team took a steel fabricator from "we think AI could help" to a quoting system their reps run on every day, and our open-source research system ranked first on DeepResearch Bench, ahead of every frontier lab.

You'll build on our next engagement: a portfolio company of a private equity firm whose product is call analytics. Thousands of recorded conversations a day, and a business that wants to know what's in them and what to do about it. A Senior Forward Deployed Engineer owns the engagement and decides what ships first. You make it exist.

  • This position is remote (US-based). Lunon is headquartered in New York City.

  • Expect some travel to client sites, typically a few days at a time, fully covered.

What you'll own

  • The build. Most of the code that reaches the client comes from you: pipelines over speech, text, and event data, LLM workflows with a human in the loop, and integrations with their CRM, telephony, and warehouse.

  • Shipping into a real environment. You deploy to the client's cloud, instrument what you ship, and fix what breaks.

  • The details that make it stick: tests, evals, docs, and handoff notes their team will actually read.

What a good FDE is like

Our values are run hard, readiness, compassion, and cogency. In this seat they look like this:

  • You run hard. A scoped slice becomes working software in days, and you say so early when the plan meets reality.

  • Slope over intercept. You pick up the client's domain and whatever the system needs faster than anyone expects, and you ask the question instead of guessing.

  • You respect the people whose work you're changing, and you'd rather be corrected early than praised late.

  • You write it down. Clear commits, clear docs, and a clear "here's what I did and why."

What you'll need

  • 1 to 3 years building production software, or the equivalent: something real, with users, that you kept running.

  • Something shipped with LLMs in it, even small, and a clear account of where the output was wrong.

  • You work with AI coding tools as a matter of course and judge the result by the system, the architecture, and what it produces, not by which language it's written in.

  • You can read someone else's system and work inside it without rebuilding it first.

  • Able to travel to client sites and authorized to work in the US.

Who you'll work with

Lunon was founded in 2026 by Dhruv Shajikumar, Ryan Hyatt, and Connor Hyatt. You'll work beside the Senior Forward Deployed Engineer on your engagement, directly with the founders, and with the people on the client side whose jobs your software changes.

Why join

  • You ship to real users in your first month, inside a real business, with a senior engineer beside you.

  • A firm that is a year old. What you learn on this client becomes how Lunon works.

  • Remote, with the travel that makes embedded work real.

Compensation

$100,000 to $120,000 base salary. Travel fully covered.

How we hire

  • A 30-minute conversation with the team about what you've shipped and what we're building.

  • A technical deep-dive on one system you owned, from the business problem to production.

  • A working session on a real client problem with the team.

  • References, then an offer. We aim to finish in two weeks.
