Who We Are

The Web Platform team leads the development of the Shreddit platform, the heart of reddit.com. We focus on platform-wide architecture, performance optimizations, operational health and upleveling our web developer experience for one of the most trafficked sites on the internet.

With us, you’ll turn ambiguous platform problems into clear designs and ship high‑quality, observable, well‑tested solutions that other teams rely on every day.

You'll drive key platform initiatives, including optimizing Shreddit's global performance, evolving HTML rendering, and enhancing web infrastructure resiliency and scale. You will also boost developer experience through AI tooling, automated workflows, and streamlined CI/CD pipelines.

What You’ll Do

• Build with impact: Design and evolve the Shreddit web platform’s architecture, performance, and developer tooling that powers reddit.com for hundreds of millions of users across the world.
• Full-Lifecycle Development:  Lead end‑to‑end delivery of complex, cross‑service initiatives in areas like asset delivery, html processing, observability and reliability for core web experiences.
• Quality & Velocity: Move fast while maintaining high quality standards through thorough code reviews, detailed design doc evaluations, and constructive feedback on product specs and UI mocks.
• Mentorship & Engineering Standards: Help establish developer workflows, champion best practices, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers to elevate technical excellence across the team.

Technical Qualifications

• Web Expertise: Strong proficiency in modern web stacks, including JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Next.js, with a proven track record of translating complex problems into performant, scalable and safe  responsive, production-grade applications.
• Operational Health Excellence: Experience tracing, profiling and tuning performance of network calls, rendering, or data access paths, monitoring and reporting their operational health.
• AI-First Workflows Expertise: Experience implementing AI workflows and tooling to support and accelerate high quality web development, optimization and debugging.
• API & System Design: Demonstrated experience designing, building, and maintaining robust APIs using protocols such as REST, GraphQL, gRPC, HTTP, or Thrift basics.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Pay Transparency:

This job posting may span more than one career level.

In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive a commission. We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including, skills, depth of work experience and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below.

The base salary range for this position is:$190,800—$267,100 USD
