Job description

AFL Data Center Services is seeking a motivated, entry-level Business Development Representative to support the growth of our fiber-optic and structured-cabling services within the hyperscale data-center market.

In this remote role, you will help identify prospective customers, initiate outreach, build relationships, and uncover opportunities for data-center cabling projects. You will work closely with experienced business-development, technical, and operational leaders while developing the skills and industry knowledge needed to grow a career in data-center infrastructure sales.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven early-career professional who is organized, curious, comfortable initiating conversations, and interested in the fast-growing data-center and connectivity market.

What you will do

  • Research target hyperscale data-center customers and related contractors, developers, and integrators.
  • Conduct outreach through email, phone, LinkedIn, and industry events to generate introductions and discovery meetings.
  • Build and maintain contact lists, account profiles, and customer relationship notes.
  • Identify potential cabling opportunities and share them with senior business-development leadership.
  • Participate in customer meetings, capability presentations, and follow-up discussions.
  • Support supplier registrations, customer prequalifications, and vendor onboarding activities.
  • Track bid opportunities, customer requirements, deadlines, and follow-up items.
  • Assist with proposal coordination, customer communications, and CRM documentation.
  • Attend approved data-center conferences, trade shows, and networking events.
  • Complete timely follow-up after meetings and events, documenting contacts and potential opportunities.
  • Participate in weekly pipeline reviews and activity planning.
  • Learn the organization’s cabling services, delivery capabilities, and approved customer messaging.

What we are looking for

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence initiating outreach and building professional relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and consistent follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Interest in data centers, fiber optics, structured cabling, construction, or technical sales.
  • Willingness to learn technical concepts and customer requirements.
  • Ability to travel regularly for customer meetings, conferences, and occasional site visits.
  • Residency within approximately 45 minutes of a major commercial airport.

Preferred qualifications

  • Up to three years of experience in sales, business development, customer service, recruiting, construction, telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Exposure to structured cabling, fiber optics, low-voltage systems, or data-center infrastructure.
  • Experience using a CRM such as Sale Force or managing outreach and follow-up.
  • Experience supporting trade shows, customer presentations, or sales pursuits.
  • Relevant education, technical training, or equivalent practical experience.

What success looks like

Success in this role is measured by consistent, high-quality activity, development of qualified opportunities, strong CRM discipline, and meaningful contribution to the sales pipeline. You will be supported by experienced leaders and technical teams, with clear expectations and opportunities to grow into more advanced business-development responsibilities.

Why join us

You will join one of the best data-cabling delivery teams in the world! You will join a team of passionate industry leaders and will be focused on delivering critical connectivity infrastructure for data centers. This role provides direct exposure to hyperscale customers, industry events, complex infrastructure projects, and the commercial side of data-center construction.
