Job description

About the ClientOur client is an established, mid-sized US company that sells to business customers and runs a lean, hands-on finance function. Their accounting team works in a practical, less automated environment built on Sage 100 and Excel, where people are trusted to own their work from start to finish. They’re looking for a dependable remote professional to take charge of their entire AR desk and work closely with their sales, operations, and accounting teams.

Why does this role exist? The company needs one experienced, detail-oriented person to take full ownership of its accounts receivable, from invoicing through collections and reconciliation. • Research and resolve unapplied cash, short payments, overpayments, deductions, and misapplied payments
Collections

  • Contact customers by phone and email about invoices, balances, payment commitments, disputes, and overdue accounts
  • Maintain accurate collection notes, promise-to-pay dates, and account status updates
Disputes, Credits & Adjustments
  • Research invoice discrepancies and work with sales, operations, and accounting to resolve customer disputes
  • Process and apply approved credit memos, customer credits, adjustments, and write-offs
Reconciliation, Reporting & Leadership Support
  • Reconcile customer accounts, the AR subledger, revenue accounts, and related general ledger activity
  • Prepare AR aging, collection, dispute, and cash receipt reports for management
  • Provide occasional administrative support to company leadership, including scheduling, document preparation, and follow-up coordination

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Required

  • Personally handled collections, manual cash application, credit terms, credits, disputes, and reconciliations, ideally within a one- or two-person AR team
