The Accounting Manager will own the month-end close process, oversee key accounting functions, mentor junior staff, and drive process improvements across the organization.

The ideal candidate has experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG), inventory accounting, and e-commerce operations, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This is a working manager position requiring both strategic thinking and daily execution.
Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, and account reconciliations.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, wholesale customer invoicing, collections, vendor onboarding, W-9/W-8 collection, and annual 1099 reporting.
  • Review weekly accounts receivable aging reports and partner with customers to resolve payment disputes, deductions, and chargebacks.
  • Supervise and train junior accountants responsible for bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, customer payment applications, and other daily accounting functions.
  • Review customer deductions, rebates, promotional allowances, and chargebacks to ensure accurate accounting treatment.
  • Manage inventory accounting and reconcile inventory balances, inventory adjustments, and cost of goods sold.
  • Oversee sales tax compliance across multiple states, including reviewing filings prepared by Numeral, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring timely filing and payment.
  • Prepare and upload wholesale sales data to Numeral monthly.
  • Process semi-monthly payroll through Rippling and review payroll reports for accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
  • Support audits and tax engagements by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests.
  • Mentor and develop junior accounting staff through coaching, performance feedback, and delegation of responsibilities.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, process improvements, and scalability as the company continues to grow.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations and Sales, and Leadership teams on projects that improve financial visibility and operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a CPG, food & beverage, dietary supplement, manufacturing, or e-commerce environment.

  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, ASC 606 revenue recognition, inventory accounting, and cost accounting.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUPs, and data analysis.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online, Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, Rippling, and sales tax software platforms.
