Job description

Product Designer

At OpenSpace, we're redefining how the world's most complex projects are built. Our AI-powered Visual Intelligence Platform uses computer vision and spatial AI to give construction teams a real-time view of what's happening on-site, helping them build faster, safer, and with greater confidence.

But what truly sets us apart is our people. We hire curious, driven teammates who love solving hard problems, taking ownership, and making a real-world impact. Great people build great culture, and apparently it shows. Forbes has named OpenSpace one of America's Best Startup Employers five years in a row. Come see what all the fuss is about.

Brief summary of role:

We're looking for a Product Designer to join OpenSpace to work on Track, our progress tracking product. Track turns site captures into a task-by-task, trade-by-trade picture of what has actually been built. It's the kind of ground truth that field decisions, pay applications, and stakeholder communication all depend on.

You'll be the primary designer for Track, owning the full range of product design: framing ambiguous problems, information architecture and navigation, interaction and visual design, and data-dense interfaces, ex. executive-level dashboards, visualizations, and tables that make a complex construction schedule legible at a glance. Track is complex enough that it needs someone strong on structure and on visual craft, not one or the other. You'll work on a small and senior team alongside PMs, engineers, and directly with customers.

You'll report to the Product Design Manager and join a small, senior design team that covers the whole OpenSpace platform. The team critiques together, shares one design system, and leans on each other's judgment, so while Track is your focus, you won't be designing in isolation.

This role is remote, with a preference for candidates based in Bosnia and Herzegovina. You'll be joining a product and engineering group that spans the US, Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Pakistan.

What you'll be doing:

  • Working on Track, our AI progress tracking product. The product is data-heavy and genuinely complex, and it still has to feel simple and polished to use.
  • End to end design: problem definition, information architecture, user flows, interaction design, and production-ready UI.
  • Design data-dense interfaces: progress dashboards, charts, schedule and timeline views, and large tables.
  • Make complex workflows easier: reduce steps, prevent errors, and design for everyone who touches this product, from a superintendent walking a site to an executive reviewing a portfolio.
  • Build interactive prototypes to test concepts with customers and align the team before engineering commits time to them.
  • Use AI tools as a normal part of how you design. We use Claude heavily, for exploration, prototyping, and research synthesis.
  • Work fluently in Figma. Figma is where our design system lives and where most detailed design work happens.
  • Work closely with engineers throughout: early on feasibility, and through implementation to make sure what ships matches the design.
  • Contribute to the design team and the design system. Present your work in crit, give and receive feedback, and design new patterns where Track's needs go beyond the existing library.
  • Conduct research: usability sessions, customer interviews, and site visits on active construction projects.

What we are looking for:

  • 3+ years designing digital products, with end-to-end examples in your portfolio: the problem, your process, the decisions you made, and what shipped.
  • Strong interaction and visual design skills, with demonstrated attention to states, edge cases, and detail quality.
  • Strong UX fundamentals: user flows and task analysis, information architecture, usability heuristics, and accessibility. You can explain why a design works, not only show that it looks right.
  • Experience designing data-dense interfaces such as dashboards, charts, large tables, or analytics tools.
  • Fluency in Figma, including prototyping and component work.
  • Fluency with AI tools. We use Claude daily. We're also looking for the judgment to choose the right tool for a problem instead of defaulting to one.
  • A track record of close collaboration with engineers, and enough familiarity with how interfaces are built to discuss feasibility and constraints.
  • Willingness to conduct research, and interest in learning a complex domain like construction.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and a collaborative approach to design. You'll be working remotely across time zones.

Bonus:

  • Familiarity with construction scheduling, quantity takeoff, or progress billing workflows.
  • Experience designing for both web and mobile.

Why join us:

  • Be part of a high-growth company shaping the future of ConTech
  • Work alongside a talented and collaborative team
  • Competitive compensation package, including base salary and benefits
  • Opportunities for professional development and career growth
