Job description

The Opportunity:

Ziff Davis's HR Compliance & Analytics team keeps our workforce data accurate, audit-ready, and useful to the leaders who rely on it. We're looking for an HR Data & Compliance Analyst to be the team's hands-on execution partner: preparing statutory filings and audit evidence, running recurring data validation and reconciliation across our HR platforms, and building and maintaining the dashboards and reporting suites that GMs, HR Partners, and HR leadership use every day. You'll turn raw HCM, payroll, and recruiting data into accurate, audit-ready outputs that leadership can trust.

This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Sr. Manager, HR Compliance & Analytics. You'll work closely with HR Systems on integration health and access reviews, with the HR Coordination team and record owners to fix data at the source, with HR Partners and business leaders on reporting and analysis, and with Legal to track regulatory changes such as new state pay transparency and reporting laws. Our workforce data spans multiple business units, so you'll see how data moves end to end across HCM, payroll, recruiting, and finance systems.

This is a remote position.

 Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Build, refresh, and maintain HR dashboards for GMs, HR Partners, and HR leadership, connecting HCM, payroll, recruiting, and finance data, applying role-based security, and supporting users through guides and training to drive self-service adoption.
  • Validate dashboard outputs against source systems before each release, documenting metric definitions and data lineage.
  • Prepare the monthly and quarterly workforce reporting suites, including headcount, hires, terminations, attrition, and span of control by business unit.
  • Test and tune natural-language and AI query tools, logging incorrect answers and maintaining the metric glossary those tools rely on.
  • Fulfill ad hoc data requests from HR Partners and business leaders, turning recurring requests into self-service reports.
  • Pull, clean, and validate data for federal, state, and local workforce compliance filings, and maintain the compliance filing calendar with deadlines, owners, and submission confirmations.
  • Execute scheduled audits of employee files, required system fields, employment eligibility, wage/hour data, and policy adherence, documenting findings and corrective actions.
  • Assemble evidence packages and data extracts for external labor audits, regulatory inquiries, and discovery requests.
  • Run recurring reconciliations across HCM, payroll, recruiting, and finance systems (e.g., change forms vs. HCM records, rosters vs. headcount reports) and drive fixes with record owners and the HR Coordination team.
  • Monitor adherence to field validation standards and mandatory field requirements, reporting data-quality trends monthly.
  • Prepare datasets and first-pass analysis for pay equity, compensation band, and job classification audits, and support predictive model development by sourcing features, cleaning historical data, and tracking model accuracy over time.
  • Coordinate periodic role-based access reviews, from generating user lists and collecting manager attestations to tracking removals to completion.
  • Monitor new-hire provisioning and termination deprovisioning against HR events, and perform daily/weekly checks on HCM integrations and file feeds, triaging failures with HR Systems.
  • Maintain the HR risk register, keeping status, owners, and remediation dates current and preparing summaries for leadership review.
  • Track regulatory changes (e.g., new state pay transparency or reporting laws) and flag impacts on data, filings, or processes.
  • Support annual testing of the HR components of the ADP Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans, documenting results and follow-ups.

 Job Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in HR analytics, HRIS, HR compliance, or people data operations.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills (lookups, pivots, data cleaning).
  • Hands-on experience building dashboards in Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or a native HCM analytics tool.
  • Working knowledge of US employment compliance and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Experience with an enterprise HCM such as ADP, Workday, or UKG, and an applicant tracking system.
  • High attention to detail and discretion handling confidential employee and compensation data.

Preferred:

  • Exposure to multi-entity or multi-country workforce data (e.g., US, UK, India, Australia).
  • Familiarity with API, SFTP, or flat-file integrations, access reviews, and SOX-style control evidence.
  • Experience using or testing generative AI or natural-language analytics tools.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or a data analytics certification.
