Job description

The role

This is an AI-first content role. We no longer write product content line by line. We build AI workflows that do the heavy lifting, then apply the editorial judgment that makes the output accurate, on-brand and compliant with each retailer's rules. You will spend far more time directing, checking and improving AI output than typing copy, so you need to be both an excellent writer and an unusually capable, tech-forward AI user.

The role has two responsibilities of equal weight:

  1. Enhanced content. Raising the standard of our Amazon A+ content, Wayfair Waymore content and carousel images. That means using AI to study what the best brands in our category do, deciding what each product family needs, and producing it with Figma templates, bulk automation, AI imagery and our visual content team.

  2. Product content at scale. Titles, bullet points, descriptions and retailer-specific copy for every product we launch, roughly 10 to 20 new SKUs a month plus their variants, across more than ten retail channels. Each retailer has its own fields, limits and rules. You will build and run the AI assistants, prompt libraries and spreadsheet workflows that turn our product data into retailer-ready content quickly, and you will make that content work for the AI shopping assistants that increasingly decide which products shoppers see.

You will plan your own work, direct, project manage and approve the work of our visual content team, and own quality from first draft to final upload. For the right person, this role leads to a Content Marketing Lead position, with coaching from our CMO.

What you will do

AI content systems

  • Build and maintain our AI content toolkit: reusable assistants (custom GPTs, Claude Projects, Gemini Gems) loaded with our brand voice, style guide and retailer rules; a tested prompt library; and spreadsheet workflows that generate content for many SKUs and variants at once.

  • Use AI for quality control as well as creation, with checks for character limits, restricted words, missing attributes and inconsistencies between retailers.

  • Use AI for research: competitor listings and enhanced content, customer reviews and questions, and search terms.

  • Test new AI tools and features as they appear, including the AI features in our PIM and design tools, adopt what works, and document it for the team.

  • Work within Simpli Home's AI Acceptable Use Policy.

Enhanced content

  • Benchmark the A+ and Wayfair content of leading furniture brands and recommend the modules each sub-category needs: dimension and scale images, material and finish callouts, feature callouts, collection comparisons and lifestyle scenes.

  • Sketch layouts and brief our team on new Figma templates.

  • Run production at scale with Figma Buzz: prepare the spreadsheet (AI-generated copy, image file names and image links from our PIM), bulk-create the assets, then refine and proof each one in Figma.

  • Create AI lifestyle images from our CGI product renders when existing photography does not cover a need.

  • Finalize module copy and image alt text, and check every asset against Amazon and Wayfair guidelines before submission.

Product content

  • Produce titles, bullet points, long descriptions and retailer-specific fields, such as Amazon Item Highlights and Home Depot product highlights, for new SKUs and their color, size and finish variants. AI drafts; you edit, finalize and write by hand where AI falls short.

  • Keep each retailer's rule set current and adapt quickly when rules change, as with Amazon's 2026 move to 75-character titles and a separate Item Highlights field.

  • Verify every detail, including dimensions, materials, weight capacities, assembly and compatibility claims, against product specifications and our PIM before it goes live.

  • Refresh underperforming listings, maintain SEO keywords, search terms and meta content, write promotional copy, and keep our Amazon Store pages current.

Product video

  • Shape our short product videos (about 20 to 30 seconds per SKU): use AI to draft concepts, scripts and storyboards, set the key messages and on-screen text, and give the final review for accuracy and brand fit. Our multimedia designer handles production and editing.

Planning and coordination

  • Plan and track work in Asana, sequencing launches and enhanced content by sub-category.

  • Brief, guide and approve the work of our visual content team, and hand finished assets to our media asset manager for export and upload.

  • Document processes, rules and decisions so the work is repeatable.

What success looks like

  • First 30 days: you know our catalog, systems and retailer rules; your AI assistants are set up with our style guide and rule sets; you are producing new product content with review; and you have completed an AI-assisted competitor review of enhanced content.

  • By 90 days: your workflows produce new product content that needs only light editing, our enhanced content standard is agreed, and production is running for about two sub-categories a month.

  • By 6 months: you own new product content for every retailer, enhanced content ships at two to three sub-categories a month, and your AI content system is documented well enough for someone else to run it.

What you bring (Role Requirement)

Must have

  • An AI-first way of working. You already do most of your content work through AI tools, and you can show workflows you have built: custom assistants, prompt systems or automations.

  • Native-level written English and sharp editing skills. You can tell immediately when AI copy is inaccurate, generic or off-brand, and you know how to fix it, in the prompt and on the page.

  • Hands-on experience producing enhanced content for Amazon or other retailers.

  • 3+ years producing eCommerce product content, including titles, bullets and descriptions for Amazon and at least one other major US retailer.

  • A tech-forward mindset. You learn new tools quickly, work comfortably with structured product data, and look for ways to automate repetitive work.

  • Strong Excel skills: text formulas (CONCAT, TEXTJOIN), lookups (XLOOKUP or VLOOKUP), data cleanup and structured templates.

  • A good eye for layout and imagery, with working knowledge of Figma or Canva, and confidence with AI image tools. You do not need to be a professional designer.

  • The judgment to prioritize, decide and keep work moving without close supervision, including finding a workaround when an input is missing.

Nice to have

  • Amazon Vendor Central (1P) experience, or content work for The Home Depot, Lowe's, Wayfair or Target.

  • Optimizing product content for AI shopping assistants and answer engines.

  • AI features in a PIM (we use Salsify) and experience with a DAM (we use Collage).

  • Automation tools such as Make, which our team already uses.

  • Bulk design automation: Figma Buzz, Canva Bulk Create or Adobe data merge.

  • Furniture or home furnishings categories.

Tools you will use:

  • ChatGPT
  • Claude
  • Gemini (including custom GPTs, Claude Projects and Gemini Gems)
  • Excel
  • Salsify
  • Figma and Figma Buzz
  • Collage
  • Asana
  • Microsoft 365 (Teams, Outlook, SharePoint)
  • Google Drive

What this role is not

It is not a traditional copywriting role where every word is typed by hand, a pure design role, a video editing role, or a people management role. You will direct and approve the work of our visual content team, but you will not manage staff.

Schedule: Full time, Monday to Friday. 6am to 3pm PST (9pm to 6am PH Time).
