Job description

Who We Are

BioMarin is a leading rare disease biotechnology company focused on genetically defined conditions.

Guided by our purpose to develop medicines that make a profound impact on people’s lives, our global teams have delivered a portfolio of therapies since our founding in 1997. Our revolutionary treatments for conditions like achondroplasia (the most common form of dwarfism), PKU (phenylketonuria), CLN2, a form of Batten disease, and a number of forms of MPS (mucopolysaccharidosis) offer new possibilities for patients and families who previously had few, if any, available options. More recently, with the close of the Amicus acquisition, our portfolio has expanded to include therapies for Fabry disease and Pompe disease, expanding our ability to reach more people living with rare genetic conditions.

Our success comes from our unwavering commitment to excellence, our deep understanding of patient needs, our scientific expertise, and our world-class manufacturing capabilities. At the heart of BioMarin is a dedicated team of the brightest minds in the industry working together to deliver innovative therapies to patients and families around the world.

About Technical Operations

BioMarin’s Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin’s cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients.

Preference for candidates who can work Hybrid in San Rafael, CA, but Remote possible.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Senior Manager, Global E2E Product Supply Planning & RCCP serves primarily as the End-to-End Product Supply Leader for assigned highly complex products and portfolio segments. Approximately 70% of the role is dedicated to developing, governing, and executing integrated product supply strategies and plans across Drug Substance, Drug Product, and Finished Goods. The role orchestrates internal manufacturing sites, CMOs/CDMOs, distribution partners, regions, and markets to protect patient supply and balance service, inventory, cost, capacity, and risk outcomes

Approximately 30% of the role is dedicated to developing, implementing, governing, training, and continuously improving Rough-Cut Capacity Planning within the 0–36 month Integrated Business Planning horizon. The role partners closely with Network Capacity Planning to translate product-level requirements into decision-ready capacity insights. Network Capacity Planning retains ownership of network capacity plans and longer-range capacity strategy

ROLE ALLOCATION AND OPERATING MODEL

  • E2E Product Supply Planning leadership for highly complex assigned products or portfolio segments

  • RCCP process ownership and capability enablement across the 0–36 month IBP horizon.

  • The percentage allocation describes the expected emphasis of the role and may flex temporarily based on launches, disruptions, annual planning cycles, or RCCP deployment milestones.

  • The role is an expert individual contributor and operates through shared accountability and influence rather than direct authority.

E2E PRODUCT SUPPLY PLANNING ACCOUNTABILITIES

Product Supply Strategy and Integrated Planning

  • Serve as the E2E Product Supply Leader for assigned highly complex products across launch, growth, maturity, and sunset stages.

  • Develop and govern credible global supply strategies and executable plans across Drug Substance, Drug Product, and Finished Goods.

  • Maintain clear planning assumptions, decision rights, scenarios, risks, actions, and governance pathways.

  • Ensure approved decisions and changing business conditions are reflected accurately in SAP IBP and related planning outputs.

Product Supply Performance and Inventory

  • Drive shared accountability for product availability, customer service, inventory health, supply continuity, excess and obsolete inventory, and plan execution.

  • Develop inventory strategies and recommend positioning, targets, deployment, and risk-protection actions across internal sites, CMOs/CDMOs, distribution centers, and markets.

  • Monitor performance, identify root causes and emerging trends, and coordinate corrective or preventive actions with accountable partners.

  • Balance patient supply, service, inventory, working capital, cost, resilience, and execution feasibility when forming recommendations.

Risk, Scenarios, and Decisions

  • Anticipate systemic, emerging, and second-order supply risks across interconnected product and network dependencies.

  • Lead complex scenario planning, contingency evaluation, supply prioritization, and trade-off analysis.

  • Synthesize incomplete or conflicting information into clear options, implications, recommendations, and decision timing.

  • Make product-level planning decisions within established governance and escalate enterprise-level constraints or unresolved trade-offs.

  • Lead follow-through on approved mitigation plans, accountabilities, milestones, and outcomes.

Network and Stakeholder Orchestration

  • Orchestrate planning and execution across internal manufacturing sites, CMOs/CDMOs, Network Planning, Network Capacity Planning, Regional Supply Chain Planning, Quality, Regulatory, Logistics, Finance, and Commercial partners.

  • Create alignment across stakeholders with competing priorities without relying on direct authority.

  • Represent Global E2E Product Supply Planning in Supply Review, S&OP/IBP, PSCO, VST, launch, lifecycle, and other governance forums, as applicable.

  • Translate product strategy and market requirements into clear supply implications and coordinated cross-functional actions.

Communication, Change, and VUCA Leadership

  • Distill complex evidence into concise executive narratives, clear choices, and decision-ready recommendations.

  • Tailor communication for executive, technical, operational, regional, market, and external-partner audiences.

  • Lead product-supply changes by clarifying the case for change, stakeholder impacts, readiness, resistance, communications, adoption, and reinforcement.

  • Create direction without false certainty and help stakeholders navigate volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity.

  • Communicate difficult decisions, trade-offs, and uncertainty with transparency, presence, empathy, and precision.

RCCP ACCOUNTABILITIES

RCCP Process Development and Governance

  • Own the design, implementation, governance, sustainment, and continuous improvement of RCCP across the 0–36 month IBP horizon.

  • Define RCCP standards, methods, assumptions, capacity measures, time buckets, tolerance thresholds, scenarios, roles, decision rights, and escalation pathways.

  • Translate product demand, supply, inventory, launch, lifecycle, and risk assumptions into aggregate capacity requirements.

  • Jointly develop scenarios to identify emerging constraints, capacity opportunities, timing gaps, and mitigation options within the IBP horizon.

  • Clarify ownership and handoffs between Product Supply Planning and Network Capacity Planning to prevent gaps, duplication, or conflicting assumptions.

  • Preserve Network Capacity Planning ownership of network capacity plans and longer-range capacity strategy.

RCCP Systems, Data, Analytics, and AI

  • Own business-process and functional requirements for RCCP capabilities in SAP IBP and supporting solutions.

  • Partner with Digital, Data, Technology, and planning teams on design, configuration, testing, validation, deployment, releases, and enhancements.

  • Define required capacity master data, resource structures, planning parameters, calculations, workflows, reports, alerts, and scenario outputs.

  • Establish governance for data quality, model integrity, assumptions, traceability, and user access.

  • Lead the people side of RCCP implementation by building sponsorship, assessing readiness and stakeholder impact, anticipating resistance, and reinforcing adoption.

  • Measure process adoption and capability maturity and adjust training, communication, and deployment approaches based on feedback and performance.

DECISION AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Own product-level supply planning decisions within agreed governance and lead recommendations for complex strategic trade-offs.

  • Recommend inventory positioning, deployment, supply prioritization, sourcing, contingencies, and lifecycle actions for assigned products.

  • Own RCCP process standards, methodologies, governance, business requirements, training standards, adoption measures, and improvement roadmap.

  • Lead RCCP scenario framing and recommend actions within the 0–36 month IBP horizon.
