Job description

Position Summary
We are seeking an Epic-certified Clarity/Caboodle Administrator to maintain the database platforms and data-loading processes supporting Epic reporting and analytics. This position focuses on platform administration, database performance, and reliable extract, transform, and load (ETL) operations—not primarily report writing or dashboard development.

The successful candidate must have a minimum of three years of experience working as a Clarity/Caboodle administrator in a hospital environment, with hands-on administration of both platforms.

Key Responsibilities
• Platform administration: Maintain production and nonproduction Clarity and Caboodle environments, including configuration, upgrades, patching, and coordinated environment refreshes.
• ETL operations: Schedule, monitor, and troubleshoot Clarity extracts and Caboodle ETL processes. Investigate failed or delayed jobs, manage dependencies, and communicate data-availability impacts to reporting teams.
• Database performance: Monitor database growth and workload performance. Maintain appropriate indexes and statistics, investigate resource bottlenecks, and coordinate tuning with database and infrastructure teams.
• Data protection and access: Maintain database access controls and service accounts, validate backups and restores, and participate in disaster recovery testing.
• Release and data validation: Assess the operational impact of Epic updates and schema changes. Coordinate testing with reporting developers and validate successful data loads following maintenance or upgrades.
• Operational improvement: Maintain ETL runbooks, configuration documentation, and recovery procedures. Automate routine checks, track recurring failures, and implement improvements to data-delivery reliability.

Required Qualifications
• At least three years of hands-on Clarity/Caboodle administration experience at a hospital or health system, including production support of both platforms. Report-development experience alone does not satisfy this requirement.
• Current Epic certification in Clarity Administration and Caboodle Administration.
• Demonstrated experience managing Clarity extracts and Caboodle ETL workflows, including failure recovery, troubleshooting, and validation of completed loads.
• Strong SQL skills and practical experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments, including jobs, permissions, performance monitoring, and backup/recovery.
• Experience with Clarity Console, Caboodle administration tools, and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) where used in the supported environment.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to explain data-loading issues and reporting impacts to both technical and operational stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting large hospital reporting environments; familiarity with downstream business intelligence tools; and a record of improving ETL reliability, runtime, or administrative efficiency.
• Experience with cloud and automation also a plus.
