Job description

Role Overview:

PIC North America, a Genus Company, has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Key Account Manager to join our swine sales team.

In this role, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and strengthening relationships with key customers while effectively communicating and delivering the PIC value proposition to drive revenue and profitability. You will also partner closely with the Key Account Director to support the development and execution of strategic customer initiatives aimed at achieving both customer objectives and financial targets.

We are looking for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced, culturally diverse environment and can work both independently and collaboratively across teams and functions. The ideal candidate is an influential communicator with strong verbal and presentation skills, capable of negotiating and building lasting relationships with key stakeholders. Additionally, you bring strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to identify opportunities, analyze challenges, and implement effective solutions.

This position is ideally based in the Eastern Cornbelt (IN, OH or NC) of the USA and requires approximately 50% domestic travel.

The salary range for this position is between $95,000 - $150,000 USD, plus commission opportunity. The amount provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Genus considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

You Will:
  • Support the Key Account Director in the development of the strategic customer initiatives to deliver/achieve profit targets and customer goals.
  • Develop and maintain favorable relationships with new clients to increase revenue.
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with key accounts to drive revenue and profit growth.
  • Identify Customer Needs: Use analytical thought to recommend product or services enhancements or modifications to identify innovative solutions to improve customer satisfaction and sales potential.
  • Work with all customer interfaces within accounts to influence, develop and implement improved ways of realizing the full genetic performance potential in customer farms.
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget for area of responsibility, monitor and adjust sales operations as appropriate to meet forecasts.
  • Negotiate, sustain and renew customer contracts, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Communicate and sell the value proposition effectively to key industry contacts, including customer and prospects, to drive business growth.
  • Identify, target and converts prospects and opportunities to new business.
  • Due to specialized knowledge, typically leads teams/projects to grow business and gain market share leading by example.
  • Inform customers regarding new product/service offerings and pricing.
  • Develop an account plan and effectively utilize internal resources to implement necessary actions to achieve growth and profitability in assigned accounts and area of responsibility.
  • Create, monitor and adjust lead generation plans to maintain a robust sales opportunity pipeline.
  • Business Intelligence: Research market trends; maintain current awareness of industry and competitor information and analyze data and sales statistics.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present reports to stakeholders regarding the current status of the Company's relationships with key accounts.
  • Travel approximately 50%.
Requirements:

1. Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or a related field.

2. Work Authorization

  • Authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

3. Swine Industry & Commercial Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in swine sales.
  • Strong understanding of production metrics and their business impact.
  • Financial management experience.
  • Experience developing, managing, and delivering annual budgets.

4. Key Account Management & Customer Relationships

  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with key accounts.
  • Experience engaging stakeholders at multiple levels within customer organizations.
  • Experience leading cross-functional account teams.

5. Sales Strategy & Business Development

  • Strategic account planning experience.
  • Ability to identify growth opportunities.
  • Pipeline management experience.
  • Execution of customer-specific business strategies.

6. Negotiation & Contract Management

  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to influence decision-makers.
  • Contract management experience.
  • Track record of driving mutually beneficial outcomes.

7. Technology & Systems

  • Minimum 3 years of experience using:
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • CRM platforms
    • Dynamics
    • Power BI
    • Customer Engagement tools

8. Communication & Executive Presence

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to articulate value propositions effectively.
  • Experience conducting high-impact customer engagements.

9. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

  • Ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Strong analytical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to translate insights into actionable business solutions.

10. Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration

  • Experience collaborating across technical, operations, and commercial teams.
  • Ability to work independently while influencing cross-functional stakeholders.

11. Organization & Execution

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
