Job description

If you're an accountant with real Australian experience who likes running a tight, accurate set of books with room to improve how it's done, this role puts you at the centre of the finance function.

About the Role

Our client is a hospitality technology company providing digital ordering and point-of-sale software to restaurants, cafés, bars and other venues. They're looking for an Accountant based in the Philippines to support an Australian business, reporting directly to the CEO. You'll handle the day-to-day accounting, payroll and compliance, with transaction volumes that are manageable rather than overwhelming, and plenty of autonomy over how you plan your work.

What You'll Do

  • Run day-to-day accounting in Xero: payables, receivables, credit cards, petty cash and customer receipting.

  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts daily, and complete month-end reconciliations across creditors, the general ledger and systems such as Stripe and CRM.

  • Process the fortnightly payroll, employee reimbursements and entitlement records.

  • Handle Australian compliance: PAYG, BAS, payroll tax, superannuation, WorkCover and related lodgements, working with the CEO.

  • Maintain the asset register and keep cash flow reporting current.

  • Support the statutory accounts, annual budgets and forecasts.

  • Improve finance processes and help roll out new software that makes reporting faster and clearer.

  • Pick up ad hoc requests from managers and directors, keeping priorities aligned with the CEO.

What You'll Bring

  • Australian accounting experience (essential).

  • Working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, GST, FBT, income tax and payroll tax.

  • Strong reconciliation skills and a sharp eye for accuracy.

  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.

  • Experience managing creditors and payment processing.

  • Clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to juggle requests from different people.

  • Integrity and discretion: you'll handle sensitive payroll and financial information, and keep it private at all times.

  • Self-motivation, initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal direction.

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on Xero experience (highly desirable).

  • Experience in a SaaS or technology environment.

  • Exposure to Stripe or CRM reconciliations.

What's In It For You

  • Direct access to the CEO and real visibility of how the business runs.

  • Autonomy to manage your own priorities, in a role that values initiative.

  • A manageable workload and a continuous-improvement environment where your ideas on processes and tools are wanted.

  • Broad exposure across bookkeeping, payroll, tax compliance, reporting and forecasting.

  • Competitive salary, discussed during the interview.
