Senior QA Engineer

Full-Time | Remote (Europe / CET-Compatible Time Zones)

About Prism Studio

Prism Studio is a Malta-based, independent video game development company focused on building unforgettable, player-first experiences driven by clear artistic direction, state-of-the-art tools and a strong visual identity. Our work is guided by a culture of innovation, creativity and close collaboration, allowing us to pursue our vision of bringing back the fun in video games and creating experiences that feel engaging, rewarding and memorable for players. We operate as a fully remote studio with a globally distributed team of experienced developers, artists and designers. Prism is structured around trust, accountability and clear communication, enabling us to collaborate efficiently across time zones while maintaining a consistent standard of quality and execution.

The studio is currently developing its first PvPvE multiplayer showdown shooter, Heptic Arena, with the aim of standing out within the genre and leaving a lasting impression on players. Join us on our exciting journey as we continue to build cutting-edge games, push the boundaries of what’s possible in the gaming world, and provide unparalleled entertainment and compelling experiences for players around the globe!

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior QA Engineer to play a hands-on role in maintaining and raising the quality of our games throughout development.

Working closely with engineering, design, art and production, you will help apply a structured and proactive approach to testing across game features. You will be responsible for creating detailed test plans, identifying and investigating complex issues, executing testing workflows, and ensuring problems are communicated clearly and resolved effectively.

This role goes beyond surface-level testing. We are looking for someone who understands game development from a technical perspective and can think critically about how systems interact, where they may fail, and how quality can be verified early in the development process. As we develop Heptic Arena, you will play an important role in ensuring that gameplay systems, multiplayer functionality, performance, and the overall player experience meet the standard we want to deliver.

What You’ll Do

  • Define and execute test coverage across features, systems, and game builds throughout development.
  • Create detailed test plans, test cases, and regression suites based on technical and gameplay requirements.
  • Test new features and systems across functional, integration, regression, exploratory, and compatibility scenarios.
  • Identify, reproduce, investigate, and document bugs with clear reproduction steps, supporting evidence, and relevant technical information.
  • Work directly with engineers, designers, and other disciplines to investigate issues, determine severity, and validate fixes.
  • Test gameplay systems within Unreal Engine 5, using your technical understanding of the engine to investigate issues beyond surface-level behaviour.
  • Support testing of multiplayer and networked gameplay, identifying issues relating to replication, connectivity, latency, synchronisation, and player interactions.
  • Coordinate and support internal playtests, turning observations and player feedback into clear, actionable findings.
  • Maintain bug-tracking workflows, QA documentation, and reporting within Jira.
  • Monitor defect trends and testing data to identify recurring issues and areas requiring additional test coverage.
  • Contribute to automated testing and internal QA tools where appropriate.
  • Work closely with production and QA leadership to prioritise defects against development milestones and release requirements.
  • Help the wider team identify technical and gameplay risks early rather than relying on testing at the very end of production.

About You

  • Strong professional experience in game development QA, ideally in a senior QA, QA Engineer, or similarly technical quality role.
  • Strong proficiency in Unreal Engine 5, with proven commercial experience on a shipped title or game currently in active production.
  • Solid understanding of game development pipelines and the relationship between engineering, design, art, production, and QA.
  • Experience creating and maintaining structured test plans, test cases, and regression coverage.
  • Strong bug investigation and reproduction skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly and precisely.
  • Working knowledge of one or more relevant scripting or programming technologies, such as Python, C#, Lua, Unreal Blueprints, or Unreal scripting tools.
  • Experience with QA and bug-tracking platforms such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or Bugzilla.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and continuous integration/delivery workflows.
  • Experience analysing QA data, defect trends, and testing results to identify patterns and areas of risk.
  • Comfortable working with technical teams and discussing issues directly with engineers.
  • Highly organised and capable of independently managing priorities across multiple features and areas of development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • A proactive approach to quality, with the ability to identify potential issues before they become larger production problems.
  • Genuine interest in games and a strong understanding of what makes gameplay feel polished, responsive, and enjoyable.
  • Must be based in Europe or a CET-compatible time zone, with sufficient overlap with Central European working hours to participate consistently in daily collaboration, meetings, and team syncs.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience testing multiplayer, PvP, PvE, or shooter titles.
  • Experience testing networked gameplay and debugging issues involving replication, latency, matchmaking, or online services.
  • Experience developing or maintaining automated testing frameworks, scripts, or QA tools.
  • Experience with performance, load, or stress testing.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automated build validation.
  • Experience testing across multiple platforms.
  • AAA game development experience.
  • Experience working within a fully remote, multinational game development team.
  • Experience contributing to a title through multiple stages of production, from early development through launch.
  • An active interest in competitive and multiplayer games.
