ABOUT THE ROLE

The Data Business Analyst I is a dedicated partner within the data & business intelligence (BI) function, supporting technical discovery, data validation, and living documentation for reporting and data initiatives. This role takes ownership of the analytical groundwork that precedes and follows build work.

The Data Business Analyst I works closely with the data & Business Intelligence Product Owner, data engineers, Business Intelligence developers, and business stakeholders throughout the company. Exceptional communication, writing, and follow-through are required to deliver expected results. This position includes compliance with HIPAA and all other state and federal information security regulations. 

  • Location: Remote, United States
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm 
  • Compensation: $75,000 - $99,000 Annually

The pay range for this role is $75,000–$99,000 Annually. Starting pay for new hires is typically within the lower third of the range: $75,000-$83,000 Annually. Exceptions may be made based on factors such as education, specialized skills, or significant relevant experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Conduct requirements gathering and discovery with stakeholders to translate business questions into clear, testable analytical and reporting requirements
  • Validate data and reporting outputs for accuracy, completeness, and logical consistency before they reach production dashboards.
  • Conduct data and metric analysis in support of discovery.
  • Own the creation and ongoing maintenance of Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), technical documentation, and other resources. 
  • Write user stories with detailed acceptance criteria for the technical team whose work ranges from data architecture, data/analytics engineering, and BI report development.
  • Flag discrepancies between source data, transformed data, and reported values.
  • Assist in vetting incoming requests against intake criteria.
  • Authorize and maintain business requirements documents, both technical and process documentation.
  • Collaborate in scrum ceremonies and communicate across audiences.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

 WHAT YOU BRING 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred
  • 1-2 years of progressive experience in a business analysis, data analysis, or reporting-adjacent role required 
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA is preferred
  • Skills
    • Excellent presentation and written communication skills
    • Ability to analyze data and requirements critically, think quickly, and resolve conflicting needs
    • Self-motivation and ability to stay focused amid competing ad hoc requests
    • High level of task management and organizational skills
  • Technology: 
    • Proficient using a computer, business phone, office software, video conferencing, and other computer programs including Google Workplace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail, Google (G Suite) applications, etc.) 
    • Intermediate knowledge of macOS and/or Windows operating systems 
    • Comfortable working with SQL required
    • Familiarity with a modern BI/data stack (Snowflake, dbt, etc.)
    • Experience with Tableau or equivalent BI reporting tool
    • Software and project management tools including Jira, Asana, or equivalent

ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation, including, but not limited to:

  • Sitting for at least one hour at a time (total: 6-8 hours/day)
  • Keyboarding for extended periods of time (total: 4-6 hours/day)
  • Using a phone with or without a headset for extended periods (total: 2-4 hours/day)

Travel may be required for this position up to 10% of working hours

Salary Description $75,000-$99,000 Annually
