ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Front-End Developer, you'll play a key role in building and enhancing customer-facing booking platforms, advisor tools, and shared design systems that power our growing business. 

In this role, you'll work alongside talented Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to develop modern, scalable web applications using Vue 3, Nuxt, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Managers, Designers, Back-End Developers to translate business requirements into scalable front-end solutions. 
  • Develop and maintain responsive, user-friendly applications and interfaces for Avoya Travel's consumer booking websites, advisor tools, and internal platforms. 
  • Build modern front-end applications using Vue 3 (Composition API), Nuxt, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, HTML, and JavaScript. 
  • Contribute to product discovery, technical planning, architecture discussions, and estimation activities. 
  • Write clean, efficient, maintainable, and reusable code aligned with established coding standards and best practices. 
  • Create and maintain automated tests using Vitest and Vue Test Utils to ensure application quality, reliability, and maintainability. 
  • Document and maintain reusable UI components and patterns using Storybook. 
  • Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of front-end applications to identify and resolve issues. 
  • Optimize application performance by improving Core Web Vitals, minimizing bundle sizes, and enhancing server-side rendering (SSR) and hydration performance. 
  • Ensure applications meet WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards, responsive design requirements, and cross-browser compatibility expectations. 
  • Apply front-end security best practices to protect customer data and maintain application integrity. 
  • Utilize AI-assisted development tools, including Claude Code, Codex to improve productivity while maintaining full accountability for reviewing, validating, securing, and testing all AI-generated code. 
  • Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, standards, and engineering practices. 
  • Assist with other duties and special projects as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong experience building responsive and scalable web applications using Vue 3 (Composition API) and Nuxt 3/4. 
  • Advanced proficiency with TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and Tailwind CSS. 
  • Experience with modern front-end tooling including Vite. 
  • Experience writing and maintaining unit and component tests using Vitest. 
  • Experience with source control workflows, including Git, branching strategies, and pull request reviews. 
  • Strong understanding of responsive design principles, cross-browser compatibility, and modern web development practices. 
  • Knowledge of web accessibility requirements, including WCAG 2.1 AA standards. 
  • Understanding of application performance optimization, including Core Web Vitals, bundle optimization, SSR, and hydration techniques. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex front-end issues effectively. 
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and AI-enhanced development tools while exercising sound engineering judgment to review, validate, test, and secure generated output. 
  • Ability to follow company policies and best practices related to protecting customer data, proprietary code, and confidential information. 
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

    • Presents a professional and tidy appearance (virtually or in person) while conducting educational sessions, calls, and/or meetings (when cameras are on). 

EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION

  • A Minimum (3) three years of professional front-end development experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Web Development, or a related field or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
  • Experience leading or contributing to Nuxt 2 to Nuxt 3/4 migration projects. 
  • Experience building, maintaining, or scaling shared component libraries, design systems, or front-end platforms. 
  • Experience with Storybook or similar component documentation tools. 
  • Experience within the travel industry, online booking platforms, e-commerce environments, or high-traffic customer-facing websites. 
  • Experience supporting applications used by both external customers and internal business users. 
  • Familiarity with modern CI/CD practices and deployment workflows.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • If remote, ability to receive and setup company laptop, 15” monitor, keyboard, headset, and mouse (all less than 5-lbs each). 
  • Ability to work in a primary stationary job from a laptop computer (ability to accurately type, read, review, write, etc.).
  • If sitting at a desk, ability to sit for prolonged periods of time each workday (typically 8-hours) (standing desks are provided in the Innovation Center). 
  • Ability to speak English clearly, in a friendly manner, and at an appropriate volume over the company’s provided phone system, Microsoft Teams, or in person as needed.
