Job description

Regional Medical Director & Primary Care Physician Opportunities

Make a Meaningful Impact. Practice Medicine Differently. Join Centurion in Georgia.

Since 1997, Centurion has proudly partnered with the Georgia Department of Corrections to provide high-quality mental health services. As we expand our partnership to include comprehensive medical care, we are seeking exceptional Primary Care Physicians to join our growing team throughout Georgia.

We are currently recruiting a Primary Care Physician for the Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Director position. Physicians may reside anywhere in Georgia, with a preference for candidates located in Southeast Georgia.

If you're looking for an opportunity to practice medicine with purpose—while enjoying greater clinical autonomy, predictable compensation, and fewer administrative headaches—Centurion offers a unique environment where your expertise can truly make a difference.

Regional Medical Director

The Regional Medical Director provides clinical leadership and medical direction for a designated region, ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services in accordance with contract requirements and Centurion's clinical standards.Working collaboratively with other Regional Medical Directors and under the guidance of the Statewide Medical Director, the Regional Medical Director will:

    • Provide medical leadership and clinical oversight within an assigned region.
    • Mentor, clinically supervise, and evaluate medical providers and teams.
    • Support the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based patient care.
    • Coordinate clinical and utilization management activities.
    • Help ensure compliance with healthcare standards, policies, and contractual requirements.
    • Serve as a trusted clinical resource and leader for physicians and healthcare staff throughout the region.

This is an opportunity for an experienced physician leader to make a meaningful impact while helping shape the future of medical care across Georgia's correctional healthcare system.

Why Correctional Healthcare?

Correctional medicine offers physicians a refreshing alternative to traditional outpatient practice.

    • Make a difference: Serve a diverse and often medically complex patient population whose healthcare needs are significant.
    • Focus on medicine: Spend more time caring for patients and less time dealing with insurance, coding, and reimbursement issues.
    • Predictable schedule: Patients are in a secure, structured environment, meaning fewer cancellations and no-show appointments.
    • Patient-centered care: Have the time and resources to truly engage with your patients.
    • Predictable compensation: Your salary isn't tied to patient volume.
    • Professional freedom: No employment contracts or non-compete agreements are required.
    • Clinically rewarding work: Encounter a diverse patient population and a broad range of medical conditions that keep your practice interesting.
