As a District Manager, Pharmaceutical Sales supporting the Pharmaceutical Glaucoma and Dry-eye business across Connecticut and surrounding areas of New York, you will be trusted to lead and develop a high-performing team of Pharmaceutical Sales Specialists while driving commercial execution, customer engagement, product adoption, and business growth across the district. This leader will provide strategic direction, coaching, talent development, and performance leadership to ensure successful execution of current and future business initiatives while fostering strong relationships with healthcare professionals, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and cross-functional partners.


This is a remote, field-based leadership opportunity that requires a collaborative, customer-focused, and results-oriented leader who can translate strategy into execution, inspire team performance, and drive business impact. The role partners closely with Commercial Leadership, Marketing, Market Access, Sales Training, Commercial Operations, Managed Care, and Customer Solutions to accelerate growth, strengthen customer relationships, and deliver commercial excellence.


This opportunity offers the ability to shape district sales strategy, lead successful product launches, develop future sales talent, drive market share growth, expand customer engagement, and influence business outcomes across a dynamic ophthalmology and pharmaceutical sales organization while making a meaningful impact on patients, providers, and the communities we serve.


In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of Pharmaceutical Sales Specialists to achieve district sales objectives.
  • Conduct regular field coaching and development sessions to strengthen selling skills, business acumen, and customer engagement.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain top sales talent while fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture.
  • Develop and execute district business plans to drive market share, revenue growth, and performance against sales targets.
  • Analyze territory and district trends, identify opportunities, and implement strategic action plans to improve results.
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Market Access, Sales Training, Operations, and Commercial Leadership teams to ensure alignment and execution.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key customers, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), advocates, and strategic stakeholders.
  • Support product launch readiness and execution while driving adoption of current and future pharmaceutical products.
  • Effectively manage district budgets, resources, and business priorities to maximize return on investment.
  • Utilize data, analytics, and market insights to make sound business decisions and optimize district performance.
  • Foster collaboration, communication, and accountability across the district and cross-functional partners.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical business practices.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (or High School +13 years; Associate Degree +9 years; Master's Degree +2 years).
  • Ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
  • 5 Years of Relevant Experience
  • 3 Years of Demonstrated Leadership
  • Relocation/Sponsorship Assistance: Not Available
  • Travel: 40%. Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Territory: Connecticut and surrounding areas of New York. Candidates should reside within reasonable proximity to the assigned territory and be able to effectively support customers and business needs throughout the market.

Preferred Experience:  

  • Ability to accommodate occasional evening and weekend commitments in support of business objectives, customer interactions, and company-sponsored programs.
  • Pharmaceutical sales leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to drive team performance and business results.
  • Experience leading product launches, commercialization efforts, and market share growth initiatives.
  • Background in Ophthalmology, Dry Eye, Specialty Pharmaceuticals, Healthcare, or related therapeutic areas.
  • Proven success coaching, developing, and retaining high-performing sales talent.
  • Strong business acumen with experience in strategic planning, territory optimization, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Track record of achieving sales objectives and delivering district performance goals.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and strategic customers.
  • Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Market Access, Sales Training, Managed Care, Customer Solutions, Commercial Operations, and related functions.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Results-oriented leader who demonstrates accountability, adaptability, and the ability to execute in a dynamic business environment.
