Job description

About the role

Thatch is rethinking how health insurance is provided and used in the US, and compliance is core to what we do. Our compliance obligations span insurance regulation, financial services, employee benefits, and IRS requirements–often at the same time. You'll be part of the team that keeps that program running: reviewing marketing and advertising against state insurance rules and federal advertising requirements, executing our monitoring and testing procedures and documenting the results, and working second-line review of customer accounts and transaction monitoring escalations. You'll do this alongside experienced compliance and legal colleagues and, regardless of your level, will learn so much as you help build this function out. We're looking for someone with a few years of compliance or regulatory experience who is precise, organized, and genuinely interested in why a rule exists, not just whether a box got checked.

What you'll do

  • Review marketing copy and customer-facing materials against policy, rules, and requirements. Maintain the advertising files and approval records those rules require
  • Support monitoring and testing procedures: pull samples, gather evidence, document results, and track identified issues through remediation
  • Work second-line review of customer onboarding (KYB/C) and transaction monitoring escalations, complete enhanced due diligence (EDD) requests, document dispositions, and escalate cases that warrant review by senior team members or financial partners
  • Maintain compliance recordkeeping, policy and procedure documentation, and the evidence needed to support audits, examinations, and partner diligence
  • Partner with teams around Thatch including Marketing, Product, Operations, and Financial Partnerships to answer routine compliance questions and route the harder ones to the right person
  • Support employee compliance training delivery and completion tracking

Background we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience in compliance, regulatory operations, risk, audit, or a closely related function
  • Exposure to at least one regulated environment — insurance, banking or payments, securities, healthcare, or benefits
  • Strong writing skills and real precision with detail; you can document what you did clearly enough that someone else can rely on it a year later
  • Highly organized with a demonstrated ability to manage recurring workflows and competing deadlines without dropping threads
  • Curiosity about overlapping regulatory regimes and the judgment to know when to ask rather than assume
  • Good sense of humor… you work in compliance, so it's ok if it is a little dark

Experience we’d be particularly excited about

  • Experience in health insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry
  • Hands-on KYB/C, AML, or transaction monitoring alert review experience
  • Experience executing control testing or supporting an audit or regulatory examination
  • Comfort with modern compliance tooling and an interest in using AI to make recurring review work faster and better documented
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment where the procedure didn't exist yet or decision frameworks are evolving

What to expect

We interview rigorously based on integrity, talent, and drive; the trust we display in our teammates from day 1 is a reflection of the confidence we have in this process. We aim to evaluate the things you’ll be doing every day as best we can, and we move quickly. Here's what to expect:

  • 30 minute video meeting to talk through your background and interest in Thatch
  • 30 minute video meeting with the hiring manager to dive deeper into your experience and the role
  • 30 minute video meeting to meet 2-3 members of the team
  • 30 minute video meeting with department leadership to discuss alignment to the role and career goals
  • 30 minute video meeting with our founders to discuss your approach to culture and our operating principles
Estimated Compensation Range$65,000—$77,000 USD
