Reports To: General Manager, Special Projects

Position Summary

The Coordinator, U.S. Land Tenure and Environment is responsible for supporting the Company's land tenure, land management, environmental compliance, and related regulatory activities principally for Special Projects, but also helping, as required, other U.S. exploration and mining operations.

The role ensures that the Company maintains secure rights to access, develop, operate, reclaim, and manage its mineral properties while meeting applicable federal, state, local, and tribal regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage mineral rights, mining claims, leases, surface rights, easements, rights-of-way, access agreements, and other land interests such as private ownership.
  • Maintain accurate land tenure records, databases, maps, agreements, and renewal schedules including but not limited to fees, taxes, and joint venture/option payments.
  • Coordinate land acquisition, leasing, access, and property transactions with Legal, Exploration, Operations, and Project teams.
  • Manage relationships with federal and state land management agencies, private landowners, tribal representatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Work to ensure environmental compliance for programs related to Special Projects and assist when required on exploration, development, construction, mining, reclamation, and closure programs.
  • Support environmental permitting, regulatory inspections, audits, reporting, and agency interactions for Special Projects.
  • Monitor environmental commitments, mitigation measures, monitoring programs, and corrective actions with respect to land tenure stakeholders.
  • Support technical teams on the reclamation and closure planning, including but not limited to reclamation cost estimates and financial assurance requirements.
  • Identify and manage land tenure, environmental, and regulatory risks.
  • Lead and manage consultants, contractors, and land/environmental specialists as required.
  • Provide regular reporting to management on land tenure, environmental compliance, regulatory obligations, and key risks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Land Management (registered accredited professional), Geology, Mining Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably within the U.S. mining or natural resources sector.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state land management and environmental regulations.
  • Experience with mining claims, federal & state lands, leases, easements, permitting, reclamation, and environmental compliance.
  • Experience working with federal and state regulatory agencies.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Bureau of Land Management (BLM), U.S. Forest Service lands, State lands, and private ownership tenure.
  • Knowledge of NEPA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA, ESA, water rights, and applicable state mining and environmental regulations.
  • Experience with exploration, mine development, construction, operations, reclamation, and closure.
  • Familiarity with GIS software platforms and land management systems.

Working Conditions

This position principally supports U.S. special projects, but as required, provide support for exploration, mining operations, and development projects. The role will require regular travel to properties, regulatory offices, and stakeholder locations. Fieldwork may be required and must comply with all Company health, safety, environmental, and security requirements.
