Job description

RT Specialty, a division of Ryan Specialty, is a leading wholesale distributor of specialty insurance products and services. Our experienced brokers are specialized in property, casualty, professional lines, transportation and workers’ compensation, providing creative solutions to retail brokerage firms. Position Summary

The AVP Property Claims will be part of the Claims Advocacy and Insight team and will work closely with Claims and Operations department. This role will be the subject matter expert on Ryan Specialty coverage and accurately manage claims to achieve positive outcomes for assigned clients. This role will develop and produce coherent and comprehensive writing responses to coverage rebuttal position letters.

What will your job entail?

Job Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with the insurance carriers’ claims department to resolve coverage issues.
  • Draft coverage rebuttal position letters.
  • Review policies and act as a sounding board for broker teams with technical coverage issues.
  • Counsel brokers and retail partners on coverage and claims-related issues.
  • Mediate claims issues and find acceptable solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date on claims and coverage related developments.
  • Advise on policy wording solutions for recurring coverage issues.
  • Develop relationships both with the carriers and with our brokers facilitating the ability be a credible resource and spokesperson on coverage and claims-related issues.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Work Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required along with 8+ years of Commercial Property claims experience.
  • Must have previous insurance carrier experience with high dollar/” severe” property claims.
  • Experience in Inland Marine and Ocean Marine claims a plus.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Ability to develop, analyze, and implement strategies with a proactive long-term view of business goals and objectives.

  • Claims Adjuster License a plus.

The target salary range for this position is $112,000.00 - $140,000.00 annually.

The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
