We are currently looking for a Sales Engineering Specialist - US to join our busy and growing manufacturing company.  The successful candidate will be engaged in elevating the department and company to the next level.  The incumbent will be forward looking and thrive in a culture of continuous improvement.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Reporting directly to the Director of Sales - NA, the Sales Engineering Specialist US will assist with the selling of complex system solutions in the Natural Gas distribution market.  Is responsible for maintaining an extensive knowledge of the products’, solutions, systems, functions, and processes as well as assisting to close sales where technical expertise may be required to fit the customer’s needs.  The Sales Engineering Specialist is driven to achieve sales objectives and have outstanding sales and customer service skills. 

 Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Preparing and developing technical presentations to explain the company's products or services to customers
  • Discussing customer needs and system requirements with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Collaborating with sales, engineering, and systems development teams to understand customer requirements and provide sales support
  • Develop product sales and service opportunity leads, following up after initial contact, securing orders, negotiating contracts
  • Researching, developing, and modifying products and solutions to meet customers' technical requirements and needs
  • Helping customers with products and recommending solutions or alternative products
  • Soliciting and logging client feedback and evaluating the data to create new sales, services, and marketing strategies to target customers
  • Identifying areas for improvement and communicating these issues as well as possible solutions to senior management
  • Train/inform other members of the sales team on the technical aspects of the company's products, solutions and services
  • All other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must be technically strong and have a solid understanding of the company products and service offerings
  • In-depth knowledge of the company’s technical solutions, ability to relate this knowledge to be understandable to non-technical customers 
  • Proven track record in prospecting, closing, and growing business accounts in preferred related industries of – energy distribution, utilities, or instrumentation market segments
  • Willing to travel within North America and internationally as required
  • Knowledge of mechanical/electronic/computing processes
  • Strong problem solving, project management skills
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Poses excellent planning, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft, API applications and other productivity tools
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Outstanding customer relationship skills
  • Relationship building, leadership, organizational awareness
  • Proven ability to deliver results
  • Experience presenting and speaking in front of a group or meeting

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 5-10 years of technical sales or supporting mechanical, electronic, or computing solutions and equipment – preferably related to energy distribution, utility, or instrumentation market segments
  • Candidates must have experience selling or supporting equipment related to mechanical, electronics or computing
  • Diploma/Degree in either Mechanical or Electronics Engineering and/or Computer Science with business aptitude and strong communication skills preferred
