Job description

Overview:

As a Policy Analyst, you will help the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Minority Health (OMH) to meet its mission of providing national leadership, resources, and coordination to improve the health of racial and ethnic minority populations and American Indians and Alaska Natives and to eliminate health disparities. You will use your policy analysis and research knowledge, skills, and abilities to produce materials that are more accessible to limited English proficiency (LEP) communities, helping HHS OMH to promote programs, initiatives and administration health priorities, empowering LEP communities to access HHS OMH materials independently, and making them more informed about important health and wellness issues. Work Schedule and Location:

Remote: This full-time remote position will work Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm Eastern Time.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze federal plain language and communications policy and guidelines.
  • Conduct research in support of contract deliverables, such as English literacy promotion materials, community outreach materials, meeting agendas, annual reports, and final reports.
  • Conduct research in support of plain-language content development and accessibility and the promotion of English-language literacy.
  • Prepare written reports, analyses, briefings, memoranda, and technical documentation.
  • Provide research and technical support, which may include literature review; data collection; data entry/coding; data cleaning/diagnostics; intermediate data analysis; feasibility analysis; drafting components of papers/reports/presentations; data archiving preparation; and general scientific, technical, and project support duties.
  • Review, analyze, and compile data, technical information, and related research.
  • Help to identify issues and emerging trends.
  • Attend and contribute to project status update meetings at least biweekly.
Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in policy analysis, data analytics, public policy or administration, computer science, or a similar field of study.
  • At least three years of experience conducting policy analysis or program analysis and evaluation, conducting research, or performing similar work, preferably in the public health realm.
  • Must be eligible for an HHS Public Trust security clearance.

Desired: 

  • Master’s degree in data analytics, public policy or administration, computer science, or a similar field of study.
  • Federal government, government contracting, or public health experience preferred but not required.

Pay Range:

$26.38 to $31.02/hour, depending on experience, education and clearance level.
