Job description

Job Summary:

The Sr. Estimator is responsible for providing guidance and expertise on complex water/wastewater projects, including overseeing the maintenance and utilization of estimating database. The Sr. Estimator will also assess contingency factors to develop accurate and reliable estimates.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee strategically important estimating projects to ensure successful completion
  • Support the development and formulation of estimate planning and process
  • Review solicitation documents such as specifications and drawings to identify risks
  • Provide technical advice and assistance in the preparation of all levels of estimates
  • Manage and maintain estimating database, ensuring accuracy and relevance of the information
  • Collaborate with other departments to assess understanding of water/wastewater design and construction
  • Keep abreast of updated estimating best practices and incorporate to the company process as applicable
  • Provide constructability reviews and guidance to the operations team to ensure preliminary project costs are accurate and comprehensive

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management or related field; or equivalent combination of experience, skills and training
  • PE Licensed preferred
  • 10+ years of related estimating work experience, preferably on water/wastewater and heavy civil projects
  • Experience with conceptual and detailed estimates, quantity takeoffs, change order estimates, bid evaluations, constructability reviews, and cost estimating software
  • Proficiency in estimating software applications and databases
  • Strong skills in estimate planning and process development
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging effectively with internal and external clients
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of MS Project
  • Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational, management and prioritization skills

Physical Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit at a minimum of 4 hours at a time performing desk work
  • Must be able to perform repetitive hand motion work due to typing

Compensation: $150-$180K Based on experience
