Job Summary:

The Commercial Insurance Account Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management, marketing, renewal, and servicing of a complex book of business focused on apartment communities, multifamily housing, and other habitational risks. This role partners closely with the Producer and a collaborative service team to deliver responsive client service, maintain strong carrier relationships, and support timely, accurate execution across large and demanding accounts.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the renewal process with the Producer and service team, including renewal strategy, exposure collection, application completion, loss-run review, submission preparation, marketing, proposal development, binding, and post-bind follow-up.
  • Gather, validate, and analyze client information such as statements of values, property schedules, unit counts, construction details, occupancy, loss history, inspections, applications, and supplemental underwriting data.
  • Identify material exposures and coverage considerations commonly associated with habitational accounts, including property, general liability, umbrella/excess, workers compensation, commercial auto, crime, cyber, equipment breakdown, flood, and other applicable coverages.
  • Market accounts to carriers and wholesalers, respond to underwriting questions, compare coverage and pricing alternatives, and support negotiations on terms, conditions, deductibles, and premiums.
  • Independently handle routine placement and servicing responsibilities while escalating significant coverage, pricing, claims, or relationship concerns to the Producer and appropriate team members.
  • Provide timely service for endorsements, certificates, evidence of property insurance, audits, billing questions, cancellations, reinstatements, claims-related requests, and general coverage inquiries.
  • Review policies, endorsements, binders, schedules, and proposals for accuracy and consistency with quoted and bound terms; coordinate corrections promptly.
  • Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, carrier underwriters, wholesalers, and internal partners.
  • Participate in client meetings, stewardship discussions, renewal strategy meetings, carrier meetings, and new-business opportunities as requested.
  • Document account activity and maintain complete, accurate records in the agency management system in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.

Competencies & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience managing renewals, marketing submissions, policy servicing, coverage review, and client communication for complex commercial accounts.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, analytical, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education & Experience:

  • Active Florida 2-20 Property and Casualty license, or the ability to obtain the required license within an agreed timeframe.
  • Four to five years of commercial insurance agency experience, including at least two years supporting apartment communities, multifamily housing, real estate, or other habitational risks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and an insurance agency management system; Applied Epic experience is strongly preferred.
  • College degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Experience with large property schedules, layered or shared property programs, umbrella/excess towers, catastrophe-exposed risks, and wholesale placements.
  • Professional insurance designation such as CIC, CRM, CPCU, ARM, or CRIS.
  • Experience preparing client-facing renewal proposals, coverage comparisons, and stewardship materials.
