Job description

Role Overview

The Chief of Staff to the CFO serves as a trusted strategic partner and integrator across Myriad Genetics’ Finance organization and broader enterprise. This role ensures that the CFO’s priorities are executed effectively, decisions are well-informed, and cross-functional alignment is maintained across the company’s administrative, operations, R&D, technology, and commercial functions.

The Chief of Staff will lead and coordinate key financial and operational initiatives, streamline executive communications, manage the rhythm of business, and drive accountability for strategic deliverables. Acting as an operational extension of the CFO, this leader will enhance the impact, visibility, and efficiency of the Finance function as Myriad continues its transformation and growth in molecular diagnostics.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic and Financial Operations

  • Partner with the CFO and Finance leadership team to translate corporate strategy into clear operational and financial priorities.
  • Support enterprise financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment across the enterprise.
  • Monitor key financial performance metrics, proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and decision points for the CFO.
  • Drive integration between finance, FP&A, accounting, revenue cycle, investor relations, and commercial operations teams.
  • Lead special projects related to financial transformation, cost optimization, M&A diligence, or capital deployment as assigned by the CFO.

Executive Planning and Communications

  • Prepare and review materials for Board of Directors meetings, quarterly earnings, and investor presentations.
  • Draft executive communications, talking points, and strategic memos for the CFO.
  • Coordinate Finance’s contributions to enterprise initiatives, including strategic planning, long-range forecasting, and portfolio review.
  • Serve as liaison between the CFO and internal/external stakeholders to ensure timely, informed decision-making.

Operational Excellence and Rhythm of Business

  • Lead and manage the CFO’s operating cadence — staff meetings, leadership offsites, quarterly business reviews, and key cross-functional forums.
  • Track major initiatives, deliverables, and metrics to ensure accountability and follow-through.
  • Identify and eliminate operational bottlenecks, driving efficiency across Finance, Accounting, Procurement, and Investor Relations.
  • Partner with HR and Communications to strengthen the Finance organization’s culture, engagement, and internal communications.

Leadership and Influence

  • Act as a thought partner and sounding board to the CFO and CFO Lead Team.
  • Serve as an internal consultant on high-priority projects, integrating cross-functional perspectives to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Represent the CFO in select meetings, committees, or projects as needed.
  • Support the development of emerging leaders within the Finance function.

Key Deliverables

  • Coordinated and effective execution of CFO priorities across Finance and the enterprise.
  • Enhanced alignment of financial strategy and operational plans across molecular diagnostics business units.
  • Timely delivery of board materials, financial presentations, and investor communications.
  • Implementation of consistent business rhythm, dashboards, and KPI tracking.
  • Execution of special initiatives delivering measurable improvements in financial performance, efficiency, or governance.

What Success Looks Like

  • The CFO operates with increased leverage, focus, and strategic capacity.
  • The Finance function demonstrates improved coordination, communication, and execution discipline.
  • Key cross-functional initiatives (e.g., budgeting, opex optimization, capital strategy, audits) run smoothly and on schedule.
  • Myriad’s leadership team views Finance as a proactive, collaborative business partner.
  • The Chief of Staff is regarded as a credible, trusted advisor capable of anticipating issues and driving resolution.

Qualifications

  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in finance, management consulting, strategy, or operations leadership.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare, diagnostics, or life sciences business models and revenue dynamics.
  • Exceptional executive communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional initiatives and drive outcomes through influence.
  • Experience working closely with C-suite executives and Boards of Directors.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CPA, or CFA strongly preferred.

  • Operational Excellence: Structures and simplifies complex workstreams with precision and discipline.
  • Influence and Collaboration: Builds strong relationships across functions and levels of the organization.
  • Executive Communication: Synthesizes complex financial and strategic issues into clear, compelling narratives.

Occasional travel may be required for enterprise meetings, offsites, or investor events. Requires the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, virtually, and in writing across executive and enterprise audiences. Must be able to analyze complex data, prepare presentations, and maintain focus and composure while managing multiple priorities.
