Location: Remote with up to 90-100% domestic and international travel 

JOB SUMMARY

In this role you will:

  • Take on a steady stream of diverse challenges as you work primarily out in the field, and in-shop on occasion, to service and repair industrial homogenizers and other equipment.
  • Expand your skills and experience as you support diverse products from industry-leading brands like Waukesha Cherry-Burrell, APV, Gerstenberg - Schroder, Bran+Luebbe, and Seital Separation.
  • Showcase your potential to take on additional responsibilities and/or advance within our organization.


This is a role requiring heavy travel (90%-100%) nationwide and internationally as required, often on short notice.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

You will perform world-class service including hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting / assessment, and repair work on all Delavan based equipment. The Delavan facility specializes in component refurbishment, in-house repair and pump remanufacturing.  You must be able to:

  • Work from prints, process sheets, with written and verbal instructions to tolerances of .0005.
  • Use gauges, calipers, and micrometers to measure work.
  • Work with minimal supervision while following routine procedures.
  • Fill out detailed inspection reports.

More specifically, you will:

  • Service and/or repair all varieties of SPX Delavan based equipment.
  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repair or replace defective parts.
  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricate and clean parts.
  • Start devices to test their performance.
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information, trends and findings.
  • Keep management / Sales, sales reps, and customers informed of any potential concerns. Demonstrate professional conduct in all dealings with customers, sales reps, vendors, and coworkers. 
  • Determine and follow all local, state, and federal as well as all safety and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Provide technical input to the design of service product offerings. Provide technical input to the design of service training programs and conduct service training when required.
  • Attend all offered training on the repair of Delavan equipment.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic math skills, including percentages and the ability to count accurately.
  • Good interpersonal skills for daily interaction with customers and fellow employees.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to:
    • Work independently delivering world-class service.
    • Take accurate measurements, complete documentation, and reference proper standards / documentation to ensure quality craftsmanship.
    • Read blueprints and use instrumentation, calipers, ID micrometers and other measuring equipment.
    • Contribute as a team player.
    • Pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) check.
  • A safety orientation.
  • A quality orientation and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work outside and in non-temperature-controlled environments.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • A high school diploma.
  • 5+ years of experience repairing industrial equipment, ideally including pumps.

Preferred:

  • 2+ years of technical training.
  • Experience with vibration analysis and/or hydrostatic testing.
  • Experience with machining, including lathes, mills and CNC.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Capable of physically pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs., and of lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Physically fit for standing, bending, and using hand tools. Hand tools include air grinders, air impact tools, sanders, hand wrenches and hammers.
  • Must be physically fit to turn, push buttons, and work with levers on the machines at knee-waist level and above.

Working conditions are normal for an office and/or client site workshop or warehousing facility. The noise level in the work environment is moderately quiet, however local and client sites can be unpredictable and associated safety equipment should be worn accordingly.
